Tonight was nothing short of magic. I can recall a specific moment in each one of these players tonight that made me go “woah” 😂 So we had to do it 1 time for the south!! 😅 So much potential in 1 picture it’s scary! #youthsoccer#youthtraining#technicalsoccer#potential
🦈🔊SOUND ON🔊🦈 - Teaching the boys how to shield the ball by using their body more effectively. From just two simple tips that were given to them, both players were able to shield and protect the ball much better. Their shielding technique still needs some work but they both made significant progress within the 5 minute span we trained this. - 👶🏽🦈Notice how in the first example, baby shark isn’t using his body to distance the opponent from the ball. Baby shark has his back turned to the opponent which doesn’t allow him to see the opponent. Also, this body position shortens the distance between the opponent and the ball he’s trying to protect. - 👨🏽🦈Baby shark has evolved into full-fledged daddy shark! Notice how daddy shark’s body position is side-on to the opponent, allowing him to see both the opponent and the ball. Being side-on allows daddy shark to actually use his body to lean into the opponent so that he doesn’t get bodied off the ball. Also, this side-on body position increases the distance between the opponent and the ball he’s protecting. Daddy shark is also using his forearm to help push off the opponent and further that distance. However, notice he is using his forearm to shield, not his elbow or hand. With the use of the forearm, daddy shark is shielding and protecting himself and is less likely to be called for a foul. - Want to stop being a baby-shark doo doo doo doo doo doo?
