"ARE WE ADDICTED TO SUGAR?" I was fortunate enough to listen to Prof. AJ van der Lely discuss this back in 2016. In short, the answer is yes. Sugar hits the reward centre in the brain again and again. Fats and proteins do not - anyone ever devoured an entire box of eggs? Didn't think so. Anyone eaten half a packet of biscuits? 🙋♀️ Squeezed dessert into your "pudding stomach" after a huge meal? 🙋♀️ That's the power of sugar. Ever wondered why children prefer big brand names (hazelnut spread, peanut butter etc) ?? Look at the label and you will probably find it contains more sugar than the supermarket own brand. That sugar is hitting their reward centre and their brain likes it. It wants more I have compared @nutella to a reduced sugar version from @tescofood. SUGAR: Nutella is 56% sugar while the tesco one is just under 8% FAT: That fat content is higher is the tesco variety but note that the saturated fat content is still less. PRICE: Tesco's is obviously way cheaper. TASTE: Tesco's is nuttier. It is less sweet, but not in a bad way. OTHER: Tesco's contains the sweetener maltitol which can have a laxative effect. Tomatoes are fruits although they are cooked as vegetables. They are primarily filled with water with 5% being derived from carbohydrates and fibre. They majorly contain insoluble fibres such as hemi-cellulose, cellulose and lignin. Tomatoes largely help to combat carcinogens due to the presence of coumaric acid and chlorogenic acid. Vitamin C present in tomatoes is a powerful antioxidant and helps in anti-aging. It is also rich in Potassium which helps to control blood pressure and prevent heart disease. Vitamin K present in tomatoes is important for blood clotting and the health of your bones. Finally, folate helps in normal growth of tissue and cell function.

They thought I stand hours in the kitchen on evening, prepping my food for the next day. But this isn't like this. I do not loose time. I love to create food alternatives for me. On an easy way. . Take your menu with you. It is soo easy my dear. It needs a little bit preparation in advance. But you feel very comfortable soon. After one week you will nothing else than to bring your own food. Then your body and your brain will feel sooo good. . This menu here is a tuna salad with an egg, tomotes, spices, olive oil, vinegar, salt, pepper and fresh herbs like coriander, mint and parsley. It is done in few minutes in the morning. If I do it on the evening, I add tomatoes and the fresh herbs in the morning. So the salad is still fresh. . And the best is, this salad is fantastic for the warmer days.🌞 You are pleasantly full and it is a light and cooling food. Pitta's will love this salad - of course also the other doshas.😉 And this salad is also fantastic for people who handle with candida. Low carb and no sugar. . Get rid of some veggies breakfast: egg, potato and carrot hash with sumac, pan roasted brussels 🍳 What do you do when you have some stuff you need to eat up before it goes bad? Make a hash. It was my idea to cook the brussels, carrots and potatoes together but once I put in the🥕and 🥔 there wasn’t enough room for the brussels so I had to get another pan. Protesting a local farm which charges people to cuddle lambs & feed them only for them to be killed and their bodies sold for Easter. We know this doesn't align with how people feel when they see the cute lambs. We talked with people & handed out leaflets informing them of local free sanctuaries they could visit where animals get to live out their lives instead of having a knife across their throat. Repost from @kashguidry Does it matter where your Calories come from? Or is it just all about the Macros?? Every time I get asked does it matter what you eat if it fits your macros?? I chuckle, to assume that it doesn't matter what foods you eat or what time of day you eat them, is ridiculous. _ I hate to break it to you, but All Calories are not created equal and do not respond the same when broken down inside the body. Now, I know there are people who can get by doing this, just like I know and have known people who can literally eat a whole pizza every single day and keep a shredded six pack, does that mean you can do it because they can? Highly unlikely. To build your best physique, you must be cautious of what types of foods you are eating, when you are eating them, and how much you are eating of them. _ The body is the most complex machine on earth, if you want to feed it 200 calories from Pop-tarts, are other junk foods instead of 200 calories of rice or potatoes, or other Whole Foods, and you are convinced you will have the exact same results, because your macros are the same. Then best of luck to you! I would love to see the science that shows you it doesn't matter. That all foods react the same, all that matters is the macros. Those different food choices, have easily measurable differences. The Sugar from Pop Tarts will increase the blood glucose level and provoke a much greater insulin response from the pancreas. Where as potatoes and rice digest slower and have a more stable rise in blood sugar. Rice, and potatoes have a Glycemic index in the mid 50’s were as Pop Tarts has a Glycemic index of 100. So although you may have 200 calories of each food source, the two different foods will evoke vastly different metabolic and hormonal responses. Not to mention the sure fact of the quality difference from a whole food to a process food. But if you think it doesn’t matter, that a calorie is a calorie!!! #youarewhatyoueat#nutrition
