Half a year ago I randomly met the lovely @m_y_bodyandsoul while on my first night out in Ubud at @bali_bohemia. Back then I didn't know anyone in Bali, besides my family, as I just moved back after many years living abroad. So Kasia became my first Ubudian buddy. Who would have known that fast forward 7 months later our dreams of organising retreats together would become reality so fast? For know we are still learning, but also growing so fast. • 🕉 Kali 🕉 • I’ve been a little off the social media radar for a while since being in India. After my YTT got cancelled I felt a bit lost and wasn’t sure which direction to go in with my practice. After 10 days of flitting between a silly amount of different classes/workshops here in Rishikesh I decided to take a chill pill and spend a bit of time in an ashram (spiritual hermitage) to give myself a bit of routine. • • Wow have I been blown away with this place! I had the opportunity to start some Indian classical singing lessons and within a week they asked me if I wanted to be involved with their weekly kirtan (devotional songs). A part of the yoga practice I have heavily neglected since I first completed my 200 hour. This is an energetic mantra for the mother goddess Kali, associated with empowerment and destroyer of evil forces, ignorance and sin. Feeeeelin dem feminine vibes 🙏🏽

The winters here are hard but when spring arrives it’s so worth it. The mountains are sprite green with young leaves, the fields and flowering trees bright with color and the air sweet like honey. The birds sing songs and the bees buzz. We come out of hiding in the spring and the vibration of this land magnifies. Happy to call this home.
#yamasniyamas4growth 🌸Day 4: Brahmacharya (hip opener) Pose: Agnistambhasana (Fire Log Pose) As per Yoga Sutra, 2.38, ब्रह्मचर्यप्रतिष्ठायां वीर्यलाभः॥ "By one established in continence, vigor is gained." . Brahmacharya is often translated as ‘celibacy’. Traditionally, ‘Brahmacharya’ was meant to encourage those involved in the practice of yoga to conserve their sexual energy, in favour of using that energy to further progress along the Yogic path. However, the practice of Brahmacharya or ‘right use of energy’ as it is widely translated, is more prevalent now than ever. . Regarding Brahmacharya as ‘right use of energy’ leads us to consider how we actually use and direct our energy. Brahmacharya evokes a sense of directing our energy away from external desires – you know, those pleasures which seem great at the time but are ultimately fleeting – and instead, towards finding peace and happiness within ourselves. . •Brahmacharya in every-day life: How do you use your energy?• . Right now there seems to be an over-emphasis on how ‘busy’ we should all be – that busy is better – and that if you’re not busy, there’s something wrong. The point is, whether we’re constantly ‘busy’ or not, doesn’t matter - it’s whether what we’re doing is worthwhile. Filling our schedule with as much as we can may seem impressive on the outside, but when it comes to how this makes us feel on the inside, it doesn’t leave much space to breathe. . Brahmacharya encourages right use of energy, so if your energy levels are flagging at the moment, consider whether your daily tasks are draining you of your vitality. Could you find a way to take a few moments a day to just stop and breathe and find a little peace? . This ability to slow down will not only allow your body and mind to take a much-needed break, but you’ll be much more aware of how you’ve been using your energy that

I am- a mother, friend, wife, business owner, WOMAN. It’s easy sometimes to get really caught up in all the roles. Obligations, responsibilities, commitments. Underneath (or before???) all that I am my own Person. I’ve been on a quest these last few months to try and find my way back to remembering that person. Whatever She looks like now. This morning, before class there was a moment where I truly felt like ‘the old me’. It wasn’t because anything magical happened. It was because I stopped to notice. To acknowledge what I’ve accomplished, what I’ve been through, what I’ve learned. I brought awareness and presence into the moment and it felt so good to remember. I know I may slide back into doubts and fears. Insecurity and anxiety. That’s part of the process. I’m going to see this through and run with it for now. Today, I lead with presence. #morningmeditation

The truth is we ALL hold tension, we ALL overcompensate physically and mentally, and we ALL experience a decline in our well being because of it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I hear over and over again: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I am not flexible.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This hurts.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I have a bad ______ (fill in the blank).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ WE ALL DO. We suffer in some way from years of habitual patterns - mind, body, and soul. The only definitive thing I can say that helps? Slow down and bring mindfulness and awareness into your life, into your body, and onto your breath. Your life will not magically fall into place. The tension may not melt away immediately. But I can say this for sure, keep getting on your mat a few times a week, play with your breath, and you will experience a shift.
Day 3 of #sneakystrengthyoga challenge No bind bird of paradise from @trinaaltman Ooo that was a doozy! Hips and quads feeling that one. Takes a lot of control and stability and I will definitely be working with this again. Left side was harder and I started to cheat that leg into extension. 😬 Moving slowly is an exercise in strength as well as mindfulness. Keep ‘em coming! . .
