#poseoftheweek One legged Pigeon Pose / Eka Pada Rajakapotasana . . . This week’s #poseoftheweek is brought to you courtesy our dedicated #gyyogi Vidjaya! Here she is holding pigeon also referred to as the “King of Hip Openers”. This pose acts as an effective hip opener that relieves chronic lower back pain and sciatic nerve tension while increasing circulation to the urinary, digestive and reproductive systems. . . . if you’ve taken a class with us you would have heard our teachers say time and again that we (especially women) carry our stress in our hips and that it is important that we use postures such as this one to relieve that stress on a daily basis. . . . HOW TO:- 1. Start on hands and knees. 2. Move right knee directly behind right wrist. 3. Slide left knee back in line with rest of the body until you feel that stretch along left hip and thigh muscle. 4. Gentle start turning right foot so that right calf and shin are parallel to short end at top of your mat. 5. Make sure weight is evenly displaced between both hips. 6. Look back at left leg and adjust if you need to. 7. Energetically pull right hip back and press left hip forward. This is a subtle movement. 8. If it is in your practice, gently lower down into forearms or go even further and extend arms forward with forehead on the mat or mounted on both fists. 9. Hold for 4-6 breaths. Find stillness and steadiness. Focus your attention inward. 10. Slowly lift left knee and step back into downward facing dog. Peddle the feet out. 11. Return to starting position. Hands and knees and prepare to do the left hip. Be careful: if you have sensitive knees. Use padding, blocks or blankets to support suspended knees and hips. . . . This week we have amended times for the classes we host on holidays so make sure to check previous post for the correct time! Class is on at 10am & 6pm today! . . . #kapotasana#kapotasanavariation#hipflexors#hipopeners#glutes#psoas#yogastretches
𝒫𝓇𝒾𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓋𝒾 𝑀𝓊𝒹𝓇𝒶 ➵ 𝑀𝑜𝓉𝒽𝑒𝓇 𝐸𝒶𝓇𝓉𝒽 𝒢𝑒𝓈𝓉𝓊𝓇𝑒 🌎 When Muladhara (root) chakra is aligned we feel supported, safe, secure and grounded. We trust and feel at home in our bodies, we trust that all will be abundantly provided and that we have everything we need right here and now. There is a deep inner knowing that we are deeply connected to all things, all beings, all of nature 🌱 If, on the other hand, there are external forces that are outside of our control, which threaten our survival - issues with work or home life, our finances, our health - we may struggle with relaxing or sitting still, have difficulty getting out of our heads, and may be dealing with an underlying sense of fear and anxiety on a daily basis. In our modern world this really isn’t uncommon at all 🌱 · Therefore, practices that help us to ground and balance the root chakra are vital. Adding this mudra to your meditation or yoga practice is just one of the many ways to bring your root chakra into balance, creating a solid energetic foundation to build upon 🌱 Prithivi mudra brings together the grounding energy of Mother Earth with the energetic spark of fire, enabling this circular flow of Prana between these two elements to align the energy of the root chakra. This encourages stability and nourishes the physical body, while releasing any stagnant sluggish energy to leave you feeling calm and balanced. It is also great for dispelling fear and anxiety 🌱 Bring the tip of the ring finger to the tip of the thumb to enhance stability of the earth element. Palms facing down during your meditation enhances the effect of grounding 🌱 · · · · · · · · #mudra#prithivimudra#motherearthmudra#muladharachakra#yogaismedicine#yogaforhealing#yogamudra#iamwellandgood#innerwisdom#inneralchemy#innerradiance#meditateeverydamnday#honouryourself#inthemoment#findyourtruenorth#feelitall
I swear I'm alive😁 ✨ ✨ Asana (pose): #koormasana, also known as Tortoise pose🐢. The first time, I felt I could do this was in Nepal. Here I am, trying it again in #karachi 😧I did feel uncomfortable holding this pose but that's just how life is: at times uncomfortable🍂 but you get through it and grow🍃 ✨ ✨ PC: @rubyachaudhry
Every time I step on my mat, I am reminded to reconnect to something I’ve lost in the chaos of day to day life. Today, Louise invited me to “try easy”. I love this concept because as someone who goes hard with everything I do, I often forget to enjoy each moment. Isn’t it funny how sometimes we try so hard that we create our own resistance? The harder we try, the more stressed we feel. And then the more resistance we face. This can result in frustration, stagnation and loss of momentum. This transition to headstand will not work if you fight it. It’s in finding the ease that allows the flow in getting into this pose. Ease in mind opens the possibility for ease in action. Can you let go of the “hard”? #tryeasy#headstand#flow#easylikesundaymorning#yoga#yogaismedicine#yogaforlife#yogadoctor
If you have dreams good, but how do you achieve them? You must work hard for them. You must work very hard for them. Everyday in class we ask you to push more, to stretch more, to kick more. Why? Because you can. The room, the heat, the postures are all a metaphors for your life. You know life is tough, so is class and then you work harder. It’s meant to be, you push through the discomfort, you push through the pain. But it only comes when you put the effort in. Dream big and work harder to achieve them.
Happy international yoga day!🧘🏻♀️💗 the world need more yogis! Join the team😊! My life in Austin wouldn’t be the same without these two fellow yogis @andreatrevinog and #alejandrosininstagram . I’m so grateful for meeting them!Surrounding myself with people who share the same love has been part of my yoga practice too. Yoga is a switch in our perception of ourself and of the world. Yoga is finding peace in our breath despite all the noise around us. Yoga is the connection with our soul. Yoga is finding the pure voice of God. Yoga is medicine! 😊it can cure depression, anxiety, ADHD, and so on. Check it out! Love this video, especially the subtitles! “Come on mom, you’ve got to kick much harder.” “Ok I’m spent. Party time.” Kids benefit so much from yoga class. Depending on the age and concentration ability, kids can participate in a full or half Bikram class. In Bikram class they often practice side by side with their parents. They practice the same postures. And like everyone else, they try to do their best. Introducing yoga to your children helps establish healthy habits at an early age. Yoga can enhance your child’s strength, coordination and flexibility, while encouraging body awareness and self-esteem. It can reduce your child’s anxiety and stress and promote a sense of calmness. Plus, sharing a yoga class with your child can also help deepen your connection with your children. You’re connecting movement with each breath you take, connecting with your inner self, and connecting with others — in this case, with your child. So what are you waiting for? Thanks @bikramyogateachers for the video and @clevelandclinic for the information.
Wise Words by Thich Nhat Hanh: ✨ When you plant lettuce, if it does not grow well, you don't blame the lettuce. 🥬 You look for reasons it is not doing well. It may need fertilizer, or more water, or less sun. 🥬 You never blame the lettuce. Yet if we have problems with our friends or family, we blame the other person. 🥬 But if we know how to take care of them, they will grow well, like the lettuce. 🥬 Blaming has no positive effect at all, nor does trying to persuade using reason and argument. 🥬 That is my experience. No blame, no reasoning, no argument, just understanding. 🥬 🥬 If you understand, and you show that you understand, you can love, and the situation will change. ✨ ✨ 📸: @koi_nahi Wearing: @nirvanawear 📜The Miracle Of Mindfulness
I believe everyone experiences “yoga” differently. It’s been westernized and it’s been decolonized. It’s been a disposal for our darkness. And, in large, it also has become a salesy, profitable popularity among mega companies and corporations. Even yoga studios; Yoga studios that I love. If the i n t e n t i o n of our practice does not hold value in mental well-being and heart-to-soul stability and awakening, then “yoga” is just another form of physical movement and strength. Something anyone can render and achieve. And a way for money to flow through a commercial association of interest... Some communities are captivated by just being able to get their body into a specific pose, while others, in an entirely different state of mind, those communities are captivated by the teachings of controlled breath and the aftermath of being so present. I’ve learned that yoga isn’t for everyone. And I’ve also learned that yoga is a tool that anyone can incorporate into their daily lives. Even larger, I’ve learned that when we stay true to our nature; true to our deep rooted beliefs, no one can take away the joys we feel when we are in sync with energy and matter. When we feel so connected to earth and disconnect to societal norms. We have the ability to bring “yoga” into our life, and let “yoga” bring us somewhere more powerful and beautiful. Eastern. Western. From the original creators of the essence of yoga, down to the industry of it: that reels in billions of dollars off of the materialistic and surface layers of yoga; I believe everyone experiences “yoga” differently... And for myself, it’s already become so soothing and natural for me to practice, that I represent yoga as a tool for the rest of my days as a human being. A tool for harmony, happiness, and intimate connections. And that’s what excludes me from everything else. My heart-to-soul stability and awakening. 💙 #loveisblue#yoga#westernyoga#easternyoga#mindfulness
Life moves quickly. Do handstands in the grass. Tilt your head back in a swing too small for you and make yourself dizzy. Drive fast down the big hills. Eat pie. Hold babies close to your chest and embrace their laughter. Kiss the people you love. And always say I love you before saying goodbye.
We have some pretty exciting new partnerships this season, which include yoga at the farm!🧘🏽♀️ Our good friend @mialovesthis is offering her time this Summer to get us all into a good Summer flow. Come join us this coming Wednesday morning. What better way to welcome and celebrate the coming of Summer Solstice then by doing a sun salutations flow? Yoga has always been a good way to help my body, physically, mentally and emotionally especially with all the farm work going on. We hope that you can join us! Everyone is welcomed and should you wish to donate it will be benefiting a super awesome nonprofit called Kayak New Mexico😁😍 #tsuyyafarm#pueblostylefarming#yogaonthefarm#farmyoga#newmexico#albuquerque#yoga#meditation#dukecity#yogaoutside#yogaismedicine
Congratulations @raptors for winning the NBA Championships. Champions are created and forged under pressure. Through adversity champions find a way to rise to the top. Prior to the NBA finals the Raptors were down in every series but found a way to stay focused on the prize, NBA Champions. Let go of the journey, trust the flow and stay focused on the end game!

Balancing on my forearms is much more difficult for me than balancing on my hands. I’m still figuring out how to stabilise my shoulders in the posture shown in the final photo and the use of drills along the way has helped so much! This is what @esakgarcia means when he says “use body parts” when you *can’t do* an asana yet. Yep, what he said. Use what you have, today, right now, and grow from there. Body and brain together, happy marriage! This is a fool proof method for any moment in any yoga class, beginners to advanced, to obtain an effect from yoga asana that is perfect for your needs at any given time. Tune in folks, your body is whispering sweet somethings to you all the time 🥰 Last Intermediate class of the week: Sunday 8am ✨ Bikram yoga, the beautiful 26+2: five classes between now and Monday. Sirsāsana is known as the Headstand Pose and the king of all āsanas. When we were born, normally the head comes out first and then the limbs. The skull encases the brain, which controls the nervous system and organs of sense. The brain is the seat of intelligence, knowledge, discrimination, wisdom and power. Benefits of Headstand: • Regular practice makes healthy pure blood flow through the brain cells. • Ensures a proper blood supply to pituitary and pineal glands in brain. • The lungs gain the power to resist any climate and stand up to any work, which relieves one from cold, coughs, tonsillitis, halitosis (foul breath) and palpitations. • It keeps the body warm. • Regular practice of Sirsāsana will show marked improvement in the haemoglobin content of the blood. Important Note: • It is not advisable to practice Headstand if you have high or low blood pressure. #yogi#practicedaily#sirsasana#sirsasanacycle#headstand#legvariations#fityogi#lightonyoga#howimeditate#yogaismedicine
These are souvenirs from Hakone garden. Cat mag cup is for my mom, T-shirt is for my friend’s husband, and snacks and post cards are for my friends🐾☺️🌲🌳🐇 When we are in nature or concentrate on something deeply, we can be more less self conscious and we can feel how our experience are small. It doesn’t mean losing our selves but having more awareness around us and we can controls ourselves more when we think less about only ourselves. I found when I relaxed and refreshed in nature I can feel more happiness to everyday small things 😊 💕 I often think it was a good choice to get marry my chicken kun every time he is nice to me and take me to frozen yogurt place 😋 🍦 💕It’s becoming hotter and hotter in California. The lavender frozen yogurt was very lovely and light taste!! I love it. I hope everyone can try the lavender and blue berry frozen yogurt until they will end the seasonal flavor 🍓🍇🥝🍒🥥 箱根ガーデンで買ったお土産ヾ(๑╹◡╹)ﾉ"マグカップはママが招き猫欲しいって言ってたからちょうどいいと思って買いました。Ｔシャツは旦那が、私の友達の旦那のムンさんにあげたいから買っていました。アメリカ人って漢字書いてるものは何でもカッコよく見えるみたい🙄刺繍の白いハンカチやジェルペンやフルーツのゼリー(これは埼玉の友達が送ってくれたものです)は仲良しのクリスチャンの友達と分けるのが楽しみ( ・∇・)
