New to arrive this week all the way from beautiful Switzerland and the amazing people over at WRWTFWW Records. Test pressing (1 of 20) of the excellent score to Mamoru Oshii San’s “Ghost In The Shell” the soundtrack composed by Kenji Kawai. If you’ve never listened to this score then you’re missing one of the most iconic and beautiful pieces of music. I also have a 1st WRWTFWW Records pressing with the 7” too but I couldn’t pass up a test pressing.
*The Big News* Finally, I can share that the record label @wrwtfww will be releasing a limited edition vinyl pressing of Laistigh den Ghleo with featured liner notes by none other than Midori Takada! What makes this announcement even more special is that Laistigh den Ghleo will be released alongside the first ever reissue of Satoshi Ashikawa's first and only album, Still Way! When I began writing music within Ashikawa's concept of Environmental Music I hoped that my work would one day be recognised as a worthy contribution to Ashikawa's legacy. It's needless to say then that this is the greatest honour. You can now preorder your copy of Laistigh den Ghleo, which will be released on August 16th. It is a cliche to say that an album sounds so good that it "sounds like you're in the room with them." But when I hear the Ryo Fukui reissues by @wrwtfww, I think they probably sound a lot better than it would being in the room with him and his band. Perhaps being in the room with them isn't the highest standard? Is it not giving the recording and mastering process enough credit? If you can get your hands on these reissues, and play them from some decent speakers, maybe you'll see what I mean. #ryofukui#mellowdream#wrwtfwwrecords#wrwtfww#wereleasejazz#vinyloftheday
THIS IS HOW I STORE (SOME OF) MY RECORDS WHEN I DON’T HAVE MONEY... I’m probably not gonna buy one of those awesome flipbins anytime soon. My budget is whatever is in my pockets on any given day. It’s usually not more than ten dollars. So you gotta reinvent the wheel when you have amass so many LPs over the years. The smartest unorthodox way I’ve stored my records is by repurposing toy crates for children. You see them every once in a while when you’re at thrift stores. And when you see something that remotely looks like it could store your records then you start getting all sorts of ideas. Make sure it’s the right size (maybe 13 inches or a little bigger). Make sure it feels sturdy. And since you like to show off your record collection online, make sure it “looks cool.” What matters most online is that you look cool. This beauty cost me $2 and it gets the job done. I still wish I had a flipbin. Owning one of those Is way better than having to look for random objects to put my records into. But my DIY crates will do for now. I have a few other ways to store records if any of you guys are interested. They are all awful storage methods and you should not attempt to do what I do. Save your money and get yourself a proper crate or bin. #recordcrates#recorddisplay#vinyldisplay#ryofukui#andrewjacksonjihad#neutralmilkhotel#intheaeroplaneoverthesea#jeffmangum#recordcollection#vinylgram#instavinyl#wrwtfww#wrwtfwwrecords#flipbin#recordroom#vinylrecords#noidearecords#boombox#recordcollector#33rpm#vinylcommunity
#nowplaying Bruno Spoerri - Rare & Unteleased 1971-1998 (We Release Whatever The Fuck We Want Records, 2018). On the hype sticker : "Vintage synth experiments, proto-techno made with industrial field recordings, ecological ambient music and improvisational oddities unearthed from the vaults of gear master and all-around Swiss legend Bruno Spoerri." Nothing to add ! Another great release from WRWTFWW Records.
