The work on my office continues. I recently bought this rug, which I ❤️. It’s completely not my usual, modern, geometric style. I fell in love with the colors and decided to try new things. That’s been the theme of life this year. So far, so good! Also, check out my pedicure. I did it myself. 😬 Here’s a challenge: In the comments, describe a new thing you’ve tried recently...using only emojis. 😂

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, I wrote a blog post for @barnesandnoble about picture books that might inspire the next generation of astronauts. Moon Babies was one of my favorites! The premise is gentle, dreamy, and so original. The rhyming text invites readers to enter a “secret moon world” where baby moons learn to moon walk, drift on the Milky Way, and swing at Starlight Park. Sigh, I know. What picture books are inspiring you right now?✨🌚✨
I’m finding landscapes in oil less intuitive than landscapes in watercolor, but today things finally started to click. Here are my noob tips: (1) use your eyeballs, (2) squint so you just see shapes and color, (3) use a long brush to keep you farther away from the canvas, and (4) have a great teacher, like Dori at Red Dot, to guide you! Mostly, just get in there and go for it. The first (several? 🤣) layer isn’t supposed to look good anyway.
