បុណ្យចូលឆ្នាំថ្មី Khmer New Year is more than just a water fight, there are traditions, both social and religious, which are still observed by people all over Cambodia. Khmer New Year is a precious time for Cambodian people to gather with family, friends and their community, and whilst its celebrated all over, no where does it like Siem Reap. An overwhelming experience is an understatement. A huge thank you to this random, crazy, hilarious, beautiful Cambodian family who adopted a stranger from Australian for Khmer New Year. The collective nature of this holiday, the love for their country, their city, and everyone, no matter where you are from, brings the city together that is so great to see and incredible to experience. A lot has happened this week - but here on the streets of Siem Reap we gave thanks, for everything we have, have had, and will have. It’s moments like this you remember what’s important, and what we have in common far outweighs what sets us apart. Here’s to the beers, the water-guns, the buckets and pressure hoses, the eskies full of icy water and the unsuspecting passers-by. Here’s to what has to be one of the best New Years I’ve ever had.
A relaxing catamaran ride alongside a local fisherman on Weerawila Lake is a great way to experience rural southern Sri Lanka. Meandering along the calm waters with just the swish of the oars and the melodic sounds of the birds breaking the silence is a spectacular excursion. Dawn is the perfect time to go across the lake with the sun sparkling on the water and if you are lucky you might grab the ‘catch of the day’!
🇬🇧 90km away from Tbilisi, you’ll find Uplistsikhe, an ancient rock-hewn town which was a strategic stop on the Silk Road.
🇬🇧 Most tourists in Chiang Rai only visit the famous Wat Rong Khun (White temple) and Wat Rong Seur Ten (Blue temple) but in my opinion Wat Huay Pla Kung has nothing to envy to these two temples. #takeaview#thailand#chiangrai#temple#wathuayplakung
