I've been in overdrive for a week, checking off lists and getting things done and I don't even recognize myself. Getting ready to leave Vietnam has me thinking about when I first came to Asia. And how different my life is now. How completely it has changed. How weird my life is. I think about it sometimes, how different my life would be had I not come out here. How I wouldn't know a single person who makes up most of my life now. How I've grown in art and life and as a person. All of it knocks me out. Leaves me feeling punchdrunk with my jaw open. Most of the reason I started writing a book is because I couldn't understand or believe the trajectory of my life. It astounded me. Where I came from and what happened and where I was. It's still doing that. It does that every day. I hope it continues to. If you'd like to purchase either of these prints, let me know.

35/100: sometimes we overwork things. This is one of those times- even though I don’t consider this a super successful piece, I wanted to share it to show you an example of how my stress manifests itself. I’m starting a new job in less than two weeks, furthering my love of nonprofit art education. I’m leaving my job of two and a half years, full of people that I love like my own family that helped hone me into the educator I am today. I’m packing up my apartment and selling furniture. I’m moving in with my amazing, supportive, beautiful human of a partner (love u @nrvshbts!). I’m finally starting the next phase of my life, and I am SO EXCITED and grateful for this! But that doesn’t mean I’m stress-free. When I’m stressed, I overwork my paintings. But... I still love this piece, and love the message. If you feel able, putting your stresses into your work can make for beautiful things (& if you don’t, that’s okay. Rest is so healthy and I support and love you!). 🌹 #100daysofpainting#contemporarypainting#roses
“Twilight” was shown and purchased at one of my first art shows back in less complicated and busy days. It lives in the Pacific NW now 💙 This piece taught me a lot about using light molding paste to create texture and subtle changes of color. I still use it today to layer the canvas and add texture and interest. #thegoodolddays
✨ AURORA ✨ This mural is a tribute to Aurora, Roman goddess of the Dawn. It depicts her in the moment she is waking up, while the landscape around her is still rich and dark, just as she is inviting in the light of the new day. Her sister is Luna (the Moon) and her brother is Sol (the Sun), and Aurora tends the space between them. She represents the magic time between waking and dreaming, nighttime and morning, when our imaginations are most open and alive. Like Persephone, Aurora embodies the power to bridge two worlds: one of darkness and one of light. With this mural, we celebrate her as a symbol of hope, transcendence, and the coming of a new day. ✊🏽 . This piece is a collaboration with @thinkgreatly @lelabrunetart @lauravela.art and was made possible with the help of our amazing all-female team of assistants ❤️❤️❤️ . The mural is located at Colony Square in Atlanta GA. Special thanks to the team at @colonysquareatl for their support and vision! . #aurora#powerofwomen#womenwhopaint#femalesovereignty
Mixed media on wood panel 12” x 12”. This piece has so many bits to it that I love. The quatrefoil shape, which often appears in my work is quite scuffed and scratched. The random pops of blue balance with the warm orange and threads of rust, brown, and red. Many happy accidents occurred during this painting and I’m thrilled where it landed.
