Stop waiting to experience life! I spent a lot of time missing out on life. Time wasted waiting for friends to be available so I wouldn’t have to go grab coffee, try a new cocktail lounge or go to an event alone. Waiting for the right time to visit family, friends new countries. Waiting to have the perfect body to feel confident in my skin and rock clothes I had been dying to try. Looking forward to great weather to have adventures, to have fun. But it’s time to stop. Stop overthinking, stop waiting and stop finding excuses. Check out that new restaurant, even if that means going alone. Get in your car and go visit your family or friends. Finally plan that trip. Life waits for no one so why are you? 📷 @hecutsa #asseenonme#pitaya#f21xme
Welcome to part 2 of our “get to know you” posts! Thanks to @stemininevlog, we thought of 10 things *about each other* that you may not know. Today is my turn to write about Liv. 🍦Olivia is a food and beverage process engineer (in training) but I like to call her job ice cream engineering. 🍦She is also lactose intolerant, the irony never gets past us on this one... 🍦Liv is incredibly motivated in the morning and will wake up extra early before work to write articles or workout. 🍦She recently started taking tap dance lessons and we practice in our apartment hallway. 🍦Olivia loves historical fiction- book and movie suggestions are welcome! 🍦She was the leader of the engineering orientation team in her last year at Western where she was in charge of 55 student leaders and 650 first year students for a week! 🍦Olivia’s superpower is that she is an expert thrifter- she can find amazing deals for days. 🍦I am also convinced Olivia has a time turner like Hermione because she finds time to volunteer with two organizations promoting women- @her_volution and @leanincanada 🍦Her guilty pleasure is rom coms.. maybe not so guilty, because she loves these unabashedly. 🍦She is heading to South East Asia in December with her boyfriend of 4 years, who happens to be my best friend from undergrad! Coming up with facts about each other was so fun, so we want to pass this onto our other internet friends. What are 10 things about you @the_people_engineer, @techtalkcode, @thetechielatina, @the_engineeress, and @dumontandi ? 👋🤔

. And we continue with our series “Badass Women Tuesday”. After receiving her doctorate from the University of Vienna in 1906, Lise Meitner began to collaborate with Otto Hahn on the study of radioactive elements. As an Austrian Jewish woman, she wasn't allowed in the main labs, and could work only in the basement. Even after she was forced to flee Nazi Germany in 1938, she and Hahn continued to work together. After Hahn discovered that uranium atoms would split when bombarded with neutrons, it was Meitner who calculated and named the phenomenon of “nuclear fission.” This led to the development of the atomic bomb 💣 . . Despite the difficulties Lise faced, she continued to stay persevered and struggled to make a big difference in the science world👊🏼🌍 . .
