I don't know if I'm enough. If I'm good enough to do this thing called architecture. . I spent a good part of the year feeling like may be this is not my path. May be there's something else I can do. . Sometimes I feel like a flaw when I tell people I'm an architect. But they say fake it until you make it. . May be it's because older architects like to tell us we're still too young and inexperienced. . May be it's just my low self confidence. . But by sharing my story here, on my blog, in my emails, I know I'm not alone. I know that no matter what they like to tell us, we're enough to be whatever we want to be. . So can you relate? Do you sometimes feel like you're not enough in what you do? It's rough, but it happens to all of us...
We can lose a lot of time chasing something that is unachievable when ‘good enough’ will do. The trick is to recognise when we’ve gone past ‘good enough’ and are heading into the rabbit hole of perfection. I can spend too long playing about with design details with my website, documents, etc but is the end result a million times better because of this? Maybe, maybe not. Where does your perfectionism slow you down?
It's not often we put ourselves in front of the camera but this is me (@_lisaday_ ) with my wonderful partner (who is also an Architect) Scott. Together we have a couple of kids...and a small dog. We live and breathe Architecture in our daily lives....you could call it a passion (and after their life long exposure ...i think the kids probably have other careers in mind as a result...!). I run and direct the architecture practice Donnell Day with an incredibly talented team. I consider myself fortunate to be surrounded by a family who encourage and support my vision of creating intuitive sustainable architecture for families, while I (and my studio) bring to life the dreams of my clients. To kick off this semester's conversation series with women leaders in design, PWIA members spent the afternoon with Columbia GSAPP professor and founding member of Who Builds Your Architecture? Mabel Wilson discussing strategies to increase empowerment: "There wasn't a conversation in architecture around labor questions, and we wonder why 'if artists and everyone else can talk about it and challenge institutions, why were architects so silent." - Mabel Wilson, Sept. 26, 2018 #womeninarchitecture#equityindesign#pwia#penndesign

Popovídali jsme si o jejích zahraničních zkušenostech, Brno Design Days i české mentalitě. „Někdy mám pocit, že čeští designéři se bojí. A proto není důvod. V designu neexistuje žádné dobře nebo špatně,“ říká.
