One of the projects that we are continuously working on and are so passionate about is making menstrual products and education accessible in South Sudan and for any woman in need. In South Sudan at the moment, periods are not often spoken about with a lot of taboos around the subject. Because of this, girls, women and the community are not properly educated on this natural part of life. Furthermore, girls end up missing 3-5 days of school due to this misinformation and lack of support. Because of this, our goal this year is to sponsored 1000 girls at with sustainable and reusable feminine products which will last them for more than 1 year! And provide continuous education and support for young woman to be able to comfortably deal with their menstrual cycles throughout their lifetime. To see how you can support this, visit our website and help #stand with the young woman of South Sudan!
Happy international day of the Girl to all my girls out there 🙌🏿 I love when I receive these little cute messages from my girls in #southsudan — these young ladies are some of the girls we support through our “Stand Up, Girl” program @stand4education at CCC(Confident Children out of Conflict). I got to meet some of them this year and we supplied them with basic needs but there is so much more to do. I want to continue supporting them so that they can have equal opportunities for basic rights + education so that they can grow + prosper into the amazing women they are. I can do the best I can for them and would like YOU to be a part of this journey with us. To learn how you can support this movement visit @stand4education click the link in bio and see how you can help them with a simple basic need— access to education. “It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.” -Albert Einstein In honor of yesterday’s World Teachers Day 2018, we would like to appreciate all of the unsung heroes at Malek Primary School in South Sudan, and all around the world. Thank you for equipping our next generation with the tools and knowledge to go out and build this world into a better place. To all of the teachers out there, your nurture, care and efforts are endlessly appreciated and our society cannot thank you enough. 📚 📖
Thumbs up to a world where quality education is accessible to children all around the world, no matter where they are born. To empowering woman and children and inspiring opportunities to make a lasting and permanent change in countries that yearn for it so much. This is our mission, and we are blessed to have the support of so many of you likeminded change-makers. Thank you for all of your support so far, and we can’t wait to keep taking you along, collaborating and coming together to #stand with South Sudan and Stand For Education. Thank you.
A complete education cycle from grade 1-12 is so often taken for granted in today’s scoiety, with most children dreading to ‘have’ to’ go to school for so many years. However, with the majority of schools in South Sudan at the moment, a complete education is not even offered. In South Sudan, Primary schools consist of grade 1-8, whilst high schools are grade 9-13. However, as a result of the Civil War, incomplete education cycles have become prevalent. The latest studies form the Ministry of General Education have shown that 56% of Primary schools do not provide past grade 7 with 71% not providing the final grade 8 level of Primary school. As a result, the risk of children dropping out due to lack of educational supplies has increased. This is what we at @stand4education are trying to combat. Currently, our Malek Primary School only offers grade 1-7, however our goal is to increase this to Grade 8 to provide the full Primary School Educational cycle. All of the donations and funds we raise go directly to that; to building the infrastructure, desks and chairs to hold an extra class, to providing educational supplies and teaching. If you would like to assist us in directly making the change, visit our website to see how you can donate and #takeaction and help us STAND #withsouthsudan.
We are so honored to have had our founder @iammarimalek represent us today at the @unitednations during the UN General Assembly Week. It was a pleasure to have been apart of such an amazing and important event in promoting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals #globalgoals and working towards achieving a world where poverty, inequality and lack of education are eradicated. The #sdg, particularly goal #4 Quality Education, aligns so deeply with our mission that every child in the world, no matter where they are from, has access to education to open the door to a self-sufficient and empowered life. And through coming together and collaboration with organizations like the UN and just as individuals as society, we can come together and make a lasting change, and #stand with South Sudan and refugees all over the world. #sdglive#globalgoals#unga#standwithsudan#stand4education#southsudan#withsouthsudan#education#educateagirleducateanation#refugees
Yesterday I had the honor of speaking at the United Nations General Assembly on a panel tilted: Role Models for Social Good alongside an incredible being who is my hero @jillianmercado ... the panel was moderated by another amazing woman named @charneymagri ... Never have I ever thought in my life that I would be speaking often or at all anywhere or @unitednations + sharing my story + my insight to the world and advocating for things I believe in. Never have I ever thought I would sit face to face with world leaders + ask them to answer our needs globally + be a voice for refugees, women and youth. Never have I ever thought I would start our charity organization @stand4education + go back to my war-torn country to provide underprivileged children with the basic rights of having access to education + give back to those who are affected by the inhumanity of war—those who were once in my position who needed to escape the war + be given a chance in life just so they can live in dignity. BUT, with life you never know... Sometimes you just don’t need a plan or know it all. I came from a small village in South Sudan, escaped war, became a refugee and now I AM HERE!!! Anything is possible with a good intention, heart + soul. #anythingispossible STAND #withsouthsudan#stand4education#bethechangeyouwanttosee#modelswithpurpose#socialactivism#globalgoals#sdglive#unga#story#storyteller#southsudan#africa
The Forgotten War. As of Tuesday the 25th of September, the latest reports from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine have found that the death toll in South Sudan over the last 5 years of its treacherous Civil War is tragically much higher than was ever expected; with over 383,000 people losing their lives during the atrocities. And yet, it is still not being spoken about. It is the Forgotten war that has left millions displaced, injured, without education and health services and on the brink of starvation. This humanitarian crisis NEEDS to be confronted. It is our mission to raise awareness and assistance for the people of Sudan and let them know that they are NOT forgotten. We need to have a voice for those who are currently being silenced. And we are asking for your support. Please help us and STAND #withsouthsudan. Visit the link in our bio to see how you can directly be involved in making a change, provide education, supplies and other necessary life skills services and help the people of South Sudan. #standwithsouthsudan#stand4education
On the @aljazeeraenglish livestream the other day, one of the topics @iammarimalek was able to discuss was the current worldwide issue of the lack of menstrual support for women in poverty and need. Many girls in South Sudan currently are missing around 5 days of school due to the inability to access menstrual products and do not have the adequate support during this natural part of life. @stand4education’s goal is to provide free menstrual health products to girls and women around the world. We are dedicated about raising awareness and a comfortable and inclusive discussion about this taboo topic, between both men and woman, all around the world. Our end goal is to have sanitary products provided to women for free, in every nation! South Sudan is the world’s newest country, yet it currently has one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world. In its 5th year of the Civil war, over two million people have been displaced, and tens of thousands have been killed as reported by the UN. Not only that, due to the constant disruption and violence, children have stopped going to school, which aid groups have warned will have an enormous impact on the long-term living standards of the nation. Yet it is barely spoken about in the West. Stand4Education is passionate not only about raising awareness for what atrocities occurring, but directly combating the issue in South Sudan. Currently, we are providing quality education to children at Malek Primary School located in Bor in South Sudan. Right now, we are working on increasing our school supplies and expanding the school to accomodate more children and move from Grades 1-7 to 1-8 and more. If you would like to help us in expanding our impact, and see how you can support the education of children in South Sudan, check the link in the bio and help #stand#withsouthsudan STANDWITHSUDAN. #stand4education#standwithsudan#education#educateachild#educateagirleducateanation
Every child in the world deserves the right to an education. When we educate, we liberate. When we educate, we teach a man to fish and feed him for life, instead of giving him that fish and feeding him only for a day. Education is the key to sustainable living and providing hope and empowerment to a nation. Education allows children and woman living in poverty to be inspired and have access to economic opportunities to live a prosperous and liberated life. It provides a permanent solution and an alternative to refugee camps that do not promote the empowering of refugees and result in refugees feeling losses of dignity and humanity. If you would like to help us reach our goal of every child having the right to education by donating to our programs and projects and STAND #withsouthsudan#standwithsouthsudan#stand4education the link is in our bio to tell you more.

This is a photo of me playing with some of my kids @stand4education headquarters in #southsudan -- Most of the kids we sponsor are orphaned, trafficked, sexually and physically abused and or severely affected by war. Regardless of what they went through they always smiled and had the most contagious light energy. Besides needing love and someone to invest in them to give them a chance at life, they are in need of educational sponsorship, food, clothes, shoes and basic necessities-- things that every child should have the right to--things that any mother or father would want for their children. To help sponsor any of these beautiful souls please take action on our website www.stand4education.org or @stand4education -- Every year we provide these kids their most important needs. YOU can help us. STAND #withsouthsudan#stand4education#bethechangeyouwanttosee ❤️
