Finally! Been wanting to treat myself to this one for quite some time. It’s actually worth the price @drinkfortaleza with 40% anejos you can lose some of that agave flavor but this is the best balance between barrel and agave.
Tonight's occasion: 2016 Pinot Noir (Alphabets - Willamette Valley) by Pali Wine Co. (@paliwineco). Oh this wine! Where do I begin? I visited Pali after several days of amazing Pinot Noir in Santa Barbara wine country. At Pali, they poured a very respectable lineup I must say. However, this wine stood out to me the most. I didn't know if I liked it or not. What I did know was that it does something I have never seen a wine do before. If you want a textbook example of an earthy, high mineraliity wine, this is it! The first thing that hits is an unmistakably smoky chalk/slate/limestone nose. WOW! When you talk about terroir carried through the vines to the grapes and into the wine, this wine is a shining example. It is amazing to experience. This carries through into a dry body with an even more smoky tint. A little acidity takes over and carefully hands off to a long gentle finish with and enduring tannic grip. There are other characteristics but honestly, this one aspect stands out so boldly I'm having a hard time bothering with the rest. It feels like the wine was poured down a slate/limestone chute into my glass. Like licking a chalk slab. I would love to visit this region and understand the terroir. Fascinating! Overall, it is a well built, unique conversational wine. At 12.5% ABV, you can kick back and take your time to approach this great, unique wine without pickling your palate to exhaustion. Well done Pali! Please tell us more about this little gem. _______________________________________________ Photo credit: Shutter Warrior (@bryanallo) _______________________________________________ #winesnob#wine#vino#sommlife#viticulture#vinyard#vineyardviews#wineyards#winetravel#winecellar#wineaddict#winepairing#wineoftheday#winedown#wineblog#instawine#winemaking#winelover#redwine#california#santabarbara#pinotnoir#paliwineco#willametvalley#oregon#world#travel#fathersday
Started the morning with a 6 mile run (marathon training is here!), then re-planted the garden box with Matt. Been on my feet all day so safe to say I deserve this entire bottle of @summerwater with my favorite girl 🐶 Got this as part of my 4-pack wine membership from @winc - sharing the details on how you can get $22 off + free shipping on Stories 🍷 #wineislife#cheers#roséseason#winc
Well, as usual the weekend went way too fast! But, for one where we had zero plans walking into it, it was a good one. Nice bike ride on the beach, delicious dinner, tasty brunch, and a little productiveness. So now it’s time to #winedown for the evening. Normally I’m pretty partial to whites in the summer, but I’m loving this Cab tonight 😍 What’s everyone sipping on? 🍷. . 2017 Middle Jane Cabernet Sauvignon, Mendocino County, CA. . Vegan and biodynamic with notes of blackberry, wildberry cassis and mild tobacco with bright acidity and grippy finish. And Zero residual sugar! . 🍇Fruity, Bold 🍇100% Cabernet Sauvignon 🍇Alc. 13% 🍇RS 0 g/L. . I love the story of this label too. The name Middle Jane pays homage to @scoutandcellar CEO, Sarah Shadonix’s grandmother, who was the first Jane in the family... and ever since all ladies in the family have the same middle name.. Jane. . This Cab was hand-harvested from 20-year-old vines, pressed and underwent fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 17 days. Then, it aged in barrels before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. . . . #scoutandcellar#middlejane#belikejane#cabernet#redwine#veganwine#biodynamicwine#cleanwine#wineoclock#wine#organicwine#wineconsultant#winetime#coravin#winelover#sunday#winetasting#wineislife
"I'm tired and I done worked my ass off all day" is my look of choice. I've always loved the idea of doing a photoshoot of disparaged "wife" characters wearing nothing but aprons and fishnets while being pissed off at their poor husbands. . . . #workday#wurk#wine#afterwork#winedown
Dads are like wine, they fix everything 😉🍷 . Cheers to my favorite person to drink wine with 😘 . My dada @mikedwhit2019 is a big wino and was the first person to introduce me to great wine! No sparkling this weekend, we sipped on some of Dad’s favorite, Cabernet Sauvignon, and enjoyed the MS Food and Wine Fest! . . What wines did y’all enjoy this weekend?!
