I took @jestorode_fit’s advice and started adding split red lentils to my soups to increase the protein content. Red lentils are also good for your skin, bones, teeth, heart and digestion , and apparently they reduce the risk of cancer 👍🏻 I experimented with red lentils for the first time by using a recipe from acedarspoon.com. It’s full of the most delicious spices and boasts an impressive 15g of vegan protein per serving. . 🍂 Moroccan Red Lentil Soup 🍂 Yield: 8 servings 3 tbsp Olive Oil 1 Onion, chopped 1 Celery Stalk, chopped 1 Carrot, chopped 3 Garlic Cloves, chopped 3 tsp Ground Coriander 1 1/2 tsp Ground Cumin 1 1/2 tsp Ground Turmeric 1 tsp Paprika 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon 4 cups Veg Stock (or Chicken Stock) 4 cups Water 1 can Crushed Tomatoes 2 cups Split Red Lentils 1 Lemon, juiced 1 pinch Red Pepper Flakes 4 tbsp Fresh Flat-Leaf Parsley, chopped 1 tbsp Fresh Coriander, chopped Recipe will be continued in my “Food” highlight later.
Introverted extrovert...extroverted introvert??? 🤷🏼♀️I’m not really sure which I am, but I know I’m not 100% of either. I know that part of me looks forward to social situations🎉, but another part of me gets anxious and stressed over them 🤯 I build the pressure concerned about how it’s going to go, will it be awkward, am I going to talk enough, the list goes on..but then once I’m there, in the actual situation, I tend to relax and open up 🤨😎 • • Because of this, weekends can be exhausting - mentally. I love spending time with friends and family of course, but I’m also someone who craves alone time and peace - which is why I tend to welcome Monday with open arms - just me, myself and my work! 🙃🤫 • • So the point of all of this?! It’s okay to be an introvert sometimes, it’s okay to want alone time and to be by yourself. It’s also okay to stress about social situations - but important to put yourself in them and push through the anxiety and really LIVE LIFE! I remember believing this and having this idea that in order to eat healthy and nutritious food it had to be bland and tasteless with no flavor. This is such a lie! All you need to create yummy palatable and healthy dishes is your imagination!! --------------------------------- Start by swapping out those heavily processed snacks and sweet treats with minimally processed versions. This gives you more control over the sugar, and fat content and decreases questionable ingredients such as trans fats, hydrogenated fats, artificial flavorings, refined sugar, and refined flour. --------------------------------- You can find healthy recipes for delicious homemade treats on sites such as Eating Well where they have a variety of different recipes to fit a plethora of dietary styles. Such as paleo, whole 30, plant based, etc. --------------------------------- I encourage you to change your perception of what is healthy and get out there and start experimenting with different recipes!
