Right so last Thursday I finished the 24 day whole food program that I was doing so I thought I would share my results 😳. Daunting but hey.. Apologies for the delay in posting them! Overall I have lost between 3-4kgs (my scales aren’t precise) and a total of 19cm in various areas which I honestly can’t believe!! I feel like my face is noticeably smaller though 😂  Left photos are the initial photos and the right ones are after completing the whole foods program #detoxcleansenourish  I feel so much better!! My skin is a lot clearer. My bloating has decreased. My periods are waaay better and way less painful. It was such a huge privilege to meet this amazing woman at the Montefiore Preventive Cardiology conference this year. I’ve been following @theveggiemd (Dr Danielle Belardo) for months and she is such a great role model for women in medicine and just such a humble, compassionate woman with a heart for medicine and for her patients. . She is doing such great things in her clinic by promoting a plant based diet to her patients and shared a case of hers at the conference. Her one patient was a gentleman with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (irregular heart beat) complicated by congestive cardiac failure. He was discharged from the hospital on palliative care (meaning there were no further treatment options doctors could offer him). He decided to seek the help of Dr Belardo. After a couple months on a plant based diet, his ejection fraction (how much blood his heart pumps out) improved dramatically, he was taken off anti-arrhythmic meds and had no return of his AF, he lost weight, his cholesterol normalized, and he came off his thyroid hormone replacement therapy for hypothyroidism. . I know this is just one case, but through all the patients I have seen during my time at the Barnard Medical Centre and case presentations I have heard, I have not seen any medication come close to the powerful effects of a plant based diet. Not all cases are as extreme as this one, but when people commit to following a whole food plant based diet, they will undoubtably see results. 🙌🏼🌱 . Reminder to myself (and all those who may need to hear it also) to make your own sunshine when it rains 🌞 the last week it has rained so much that our backyard is low key flooding, our chicken coop is essentially underwater so we are juggling chickens out of their run and dogs who like to roll in chicken poo 😂🤦‍♂️ and of course nothing is drying and the storms threaten to ruin kiln loads - both last week were ruined and I'm hoping no more will be! So feeling plenty of reasons to feel a bit down but instead lighting fires to bask in their warmth, drinking chamomile tea because it's what I imagine sunshine in a cup looks like.. and doing all the lovely things. Even though it's a little bit of effort sometimes and you'd rather just curl up in bed sometimes it's important to make the effort and make your own sunshine when it's all a little bit bleak outside! 😂🌞⛈✨

After a few weeks of loosening up on my eating patterns I’ve somehow managed to gain all the weight I spent the last 8 months trying to lose. I am not impressed. But I’m also trying not to beat myself up about it and just getting straight back on track today with a hiit workout and my usual breakfast of porridge, yoghurt, raspberries and peanut butter. I cannot believe this little guy turns 5 in 6 days! 😳❤️ He is such a character with his funny little sentences he comes out with & is proving to be as stubborn as they come in the eating department. 😤  Recently I have looked into getting some help about Jaxon’s eating as I feel like he is definitely not getting any better with age, if it’s possible, he is getting more fussy as times goes on. 😩😭 As expected, a blood test was the first demand of the dietician and this little warrior didn’t even flinch. 💪🏻 Well today the results were in! And they were more than ok for a little man that eats only crackers & peanut butter (I’m not joking)....and his 2 fruit & 2 veg wholefood gummies every morning.  A little boy that has never eaten a vegetable, the only fruit, on the very odd occasion, a banana. Definitely no meat...nothing with flavour really. The only goodness his growing little body gets is from his wholefood gummies that he eats every morning! 🙌🏻🙏 I am so so grateful 19 months ago that I decided enough was enough.  That I was fed up having a sick, pale, tired little boy.  That I was fed up fighting him at dinner time because I was constantly worried he wasn’t consuming enough nutrients.
