In a bold move, the Renaissance Bengaluru Race Course Hotel (by the Marriott group) kick-started the tradition of an all-vegetarian brunch yesterday. This 100% vegetarian brunch will now be available at its restaurant, Lush, every Saturday from 12.30 pm to 4 pm. I was invited to try out the brunch yesterday, and was thoroughly impressed by it. .  One might turn up their nose at the mention of an all-vegetarian brunch but, trust me, this particular one is exceptional. The buffet spread is huge, encompassing various cuisines - South Indian, North Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, you will find it all here. I loved this, a fact that will ensure every guest will definitely find something to love. .  Executive Chef Sandeep Kumar (@chefsandy10) has pulled out all stops to create this stunning, extravagant brunch affair, including live stations for ice golas, tea, mocktails and cocktails, different types of chaat, sushi and dimsums, appams, dosas, paddus, salads and soups, kebabs and the like. The main course included dishes like Vazhaipoo Soup, Maangaai Kuzhambu, Burnt Garlic Fried Rice, Massaman Curry, Labneh, Baba Ganoush, Keerai Perattal, Butternut & Borlotti Beans Stew, Vegetable Involuntini, Chickpea Fajitas, Phad Kee Mao and Dhokla, along with a range of spice powders, pickles, chutneys, flatbreads and artisinal breads. The vast dessert counter included a variety of eggless Indian and international sweet treats. At INR 1100 per head, this brunch buffet surely is a steal, considering the huge variety of dishes on offer and the lovely ambience the restaurant boasts of. . I always bought produce tagged organic but had some doubt most of the time, is it still organic because it don't taste like our farm products (I was raised in a farm some food I know the difference others I don't know). #whyorganic #dirtydozenindia #7bananas  One always thought the banana to be a safe item because its skin is discarded. However, this common breakfast fruit undergoes the forced penalty of artificial enlargement and ripening. Farmers use pouches of 2-4-D or 2-4-5-T where the flower has been cut off. The banana bunch absorbs the poison, which mimics indol acetic acid and stimulates cell elongation (thereby yeilding a bigger bunch). 2-4-D is the chemical used by the Americans in the defoliation of Vietnam during the war. The other chemical used for ripening in banana godowns is etheral solution or ethephon which releases ethylene gas. Normally, the gas should not be released directly on the fruit. It is released in a closed chamber in which the fruits are kept. However, as a short-cut, traders simply dip the bunches in etheral solution. Ghoshala Stories: Have you met Bahula, the Gir Fighter Cow?  We had visited the goshala from where we get our pure desi ghee.  We came across this interesting animal with an attitude. Her name is Bahula. She is Gir desi cow breed and is about 17 years old. She is a Gir fighter. Apparently these black gir cows even fight the lions. There are only 5 such living cows in the world currently. The owner of the cow had bought this from Junagad Agri University. She does not quite mingle with other cows and stands alone. In fact, even the owner has to be careful while going near her since she will just try to ram him. A lot of buffet places are only about the delicious starters. The main course is average, at best. At Absolute Barbecue, Sarjapur, however, that is so not the case. When I visited here recently, I was impressed with the main course.
