My coordinating #tubfamily set got finished, both are medium sized bases, one is the selvedges from some Cotton + Steel fabric, and the other is super scrappy 1 inch strips that were left over from a different project.
In the midst of all that juggling and grinding, don’t forget to smile, take a break and give yourself a pat on the back because you rock! I’m back to editing another video to share on YouTube. #learningbydoing
I finished this baby this morning 💕 Did you see that Lindsey @lottieandalbert is releasing the pattern for her Bermuda Triangle Cushion this weekend??! 🔼 I highly recommend it, and there are some super clear instructions for those (like me) who are new to the loop stitch 🤓
Day 48/100 @ #100dayproject2019 I just realised I’m nearly half way!!! 🤗💫Ive been thinking of other small projects I’d like to do & set for myself once this one is completed since I’ve enjoyed it so much 🤗🤔 Dose anyone have any ideas on other drawing projects you have thought about doing or have done??
More newness in my shop today! ❤💚❤ My latest PDF includes this folk floral embroidery pattern plus templates a step by step tutorial for sewing a felt applique version of the same design. I'm hugely proud of this little floral pattern, definitely one of my favourite projects from last year 😊 Of course as soon as I've got one project finished I'm planning a whole bunch more: I feel like this could become part of a little series, maybe 4 designs for different seasons (with this one as summer)? What do you guys think? #lauralupinpatterns
You've heard this one before: show up consistently. It can be incredibly challenging, but there are a few things you can do to make it easier. . Quick note: being consistent does NOT mean that you need to show up every single day, if that's not in your arsenal. . But! You do have to stop doing the thing where you show up twice a day for a week, run out of steam, start up again a month later, and when nothing sticks - blame the algorithms or platforms. . 🔥 I'm going to let you in on a little secret - you can spend less than ten hours a MONTH and still show up really, really well. Set aside one day per week or month to create your content, rather than sinking 45 minutes a day in trying to figure out what you need to post! . 🔥 The next thing that's going to make it miles easier is to have a plan in place. What do you want to promote this month? Do you want to focus on list-building before your big launch next month? .⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔥 Rather than asking for a sale right out of the gate, start by providing really helpful posts that your audience will look forward to. The idea here is to make your free content so valuable that paying for your service becomes a no brainer. .⠀⠀ TAKE ACTION on this post, and you are already going to be way ahead of the game! Drop us a fist bump as soon as you've scheduled content day in your calendar. (Not the content, just the content DAY!) 😜
The beautiful thing about creative entrepreneurship (and also one of the most difficult, to be totally honest) is that we get to write our own rules. To define what a "work day" looks like. To shape what it looks like to show up and get visible. To decide what we share or make or sell.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ And too often, we take the tired templates created by the world around us and overlay them onto our brands and businesses (and lives, quite frankly). Our to-do lists and priorities become riddled with "shoulds" and "supposed-to’s", our goals start to look like everyone else’s. All the while, the sound of our hearts - those things that beat true and real - gets muffled amidst all the noise.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Let’s break the mold, shall we?⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Throw away the old rules, brave one.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ It's time to fulfill all of your joy-filled, rebellious callings - with radical honesty, unapologetic self-expression, and true, grounded, soul-soaked connection.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ I mean it.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ If you wrote your own rules for your life and business, to decide to finally pursue those joy-filled, rebellious callings, what would some of them be? 👇🏼 (Psst… I’ll start by sharing some of my rules in the comments below!)⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ P.S. It's not too late to book a Next, Right Step Session for yourself. Because they're basically the best (and because our callings are just begging us to take that next, right step), I'm opening up a few more spaces next week to round out the month.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ... because after this month, the Next, Right Step Sessions are going away. Really, really.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ The Next, Right Step Sessions are *free* 30-minute 1:1 sessions, where I'm there to support you in identifying and mapping out the next, right step in your brand + business - all so that you can get unstuck, move forward with purpose (and joy-filled rebellion!), and gain powerful momentum in getting your big, meaningful work

I will announce a date within the next week or two. Now to photograph, measure and write up descriptions...(all the things that i am a pro at procrastinating about😅)

So much of the work that goes into running a small creative business is invisible or behind the scenes. My partner, Loren, is my secret reservoir. He tempers my chaos...just enough, so that I can be recklessly creative, but with structure. As per usual, I mean this very literally! Loren creates beautiful metal structures to encourage and uphold the things I dream about making. These large swan-shaped S hooks are a perfect example. They’re a little thing, sure. They perch on my rack and hold my finished and in-process work; and sure, I could just use rope scraps for that job. But, to me, they’re also a really big thing because they’re a literal manifestation of Loren’s support for my work. He’d never say this directly, but they’re one of his ways of acknowledging that macrame is something worthwhile, and that the pursuit of knots deserves beautiful instruments of its own. If you’ve been looking for S hooks like these, or have just discovered what you didn’t know you’d needed all along—lots are available in my shop, or via @skiptoothdesign
Thank you all so so much for the sweetest messages I received regarding my Insta-story last night. You all are so incredibly encouraging and supportive of my little shop and it means the world to me, especially seeing as though I haven’t even officially opened yet 😭🙌🏼🙌🏼 So from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU. . I’ve realized that every time a person puts their ideas and creations out there for the world to admire, we take the chance of being copied by someone else. And that’s just life. Sadly, it’s the way a lot of businesses work. But I’m choosing to remain positive, because I know that my ideas are genuine and I only have the best intentions in mind with this little shop. Let’s all remember that there is room for everyone in the business realm. We all just have a choice in how we want our businesses to be seen and remembered. 🧡✌🏼
Branding your business is one of the most important things you can do to help it succeed. Hiring a designer to help you is an invaluable investment in your business but I know that the money needed to hire said designer isn’t always available when a handmade business is just spreading its wings to leave the nest.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m going to be honest with you, it doesn’t always have to cost thousands of dollars to build your brand. Even if you do hire a professional designer they aren’t always super expensive. My own logo design services start at $500, for example, and some designers offer ready-made logos (like these ones for $99 in my shop) to help get a small business off to a better start. I’ll level with you though, ready-made logos are definitely NOT as good as working with a designer to create a custom logo for your business but they’re good to get you by until you can afford to do that.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Even if you don’t hire a designer to help you at all, there are some simple things that you can do to create a cohesive brand for your business without spending much money or sometimes without spending anything at all. The trade off is time. Everything has a cost and, if you aren’t spending money you’re probably going to have to invest time instead. If time is something that you have to spend, then pop over to my blog to continue reading this post. You'll find some great tips on how to build a brand for your handmade business all by yourself!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ . #krystalacker#graphicdesigner#websitedesigner#webdesigner#creativemoms#branding#logodesign#brandingspecialist#mamamaker#etsymom#shophandmade#handmadeislove#waketomake#wemakecollective#supportmakers#abmcrafty#makerlife#createeveryday#borntocreate
