Tuesday’s are the worst. Make this Tuesday better by spending some time in your local independent record shop. This particular shop is open from 10-8 on Tuesday and it just told us that it misses you. Just sayin....

#seeingdouble here’s another copy of #frankieandthewitchfingers#new#album#zam Some people wonder why I have multiple copies of the same album, the reason is sadly #vinyl doesn’t last forever. Every time you spin a disc it degrades a very very tiny bit and overtime that will effect the sound, while vinyl is my favorite format it is also the most delicate. That being said when an album comes out that I know I’ll spin many many times over my life I tend to buy another copy so when that one’s life span runs out, I’ll have another to keep the tunes going. I tend to buy them at the same time because you never know how many will be pressed and I’d rather buy them at cost and directly support the musicians than pay some flipper a buttload more down the road. I also tend to snag the limited ones while I’m at it because, well, I’m also a collector. That being said here is a beautiful #limitededition#1of200#translucent#red copy out on @greenwayrecords @frankieandthewitchfingers #vinylcollection#vinyladdict
Queen - “We Are The Champions (Stereo)” b/w “We Are The Champions (Mono)” (1977). While I was out with friends tonight, “We Are The Champions” came on overhead, and I noticed several people singing along in the bar. This song has always been a catchy tune, and Queen is everywhere these days, thanks to the recent movie about the band. When I got home, this single popped up in a “to file” box of rock 45s, and I took that as a sign that a Queen post was in order. "We Are the Champions" was first released on Queen’s 1977 album “News of the World.” Written by lead singer Freddie Mercury, this single was built on the audience response following a concert at Bingley Hall, Stafford in which the audience sang "You'll Never Walk Alone" to the band. Musically, the song is based on Freddie Mercury's piano part, with Roger Taylor and John Deacon providing a drums and bass guitar backing. Brian May subtly overdubbed some guitar sections, building to a "solo" played simultaneously with the last chorus. Freddie Mercury employed many jazz chords (major and minor 6th, 7th, 9th, 11th and 13th harmonies), and the choruses featured these voiced as 4 and 5-part vocal harmonies. The lead vocal part is strident and very demanding (the highest point is a C5 both belted and in falsetto). The regular version of this single featured "We Will Rock You" as a B-side, and the songs followed one another on the album. The two songs were often played consecutively at the end of Queen concerts, and are customarily played together on radio broadcasts (in album order). The song is one of Queen's most popular, and one of rock's most recognizable rock anthems. ———————————————————————— This is the stereo/mono promo version of the single with “We Will Rock You” on both sides. ———————————————————————— #handpickedrecordoftheday#recordoftheday#queen#wewillrockyou#promo#wlp

It’s cocktail hour, and in honor of Mother Nature giving us a shower, here’s some more excellent rainy night jazz to go along with my 100-proof Stoli on the rocks. For those who don’t know the history of this…Miles Davis signed with Columbia Records in 1956 and still owed Prestige four more albums. So, he did some marathon recording sessions over the course of a couple of days with his group at the time, and recorded enough material to fulfill his contract. Prestige would release the contents of these sessions over the ensuing five years as a set of four albums: Cookin’ (1957), Relaxin’ (1958), Workin’ (1959) and Steamin’ (1961). All four of those albums are most excellent but this one is probably my favorite. This is a US original.
