My poor child. I'm pretty sure he's in a constant state of embarrassment with us... as indicated in this photo.😜🤣 But he's stuck with us, so the jokes on him! (side note: my massive, dork, multi-chin, laugh face is unmatched. True story.)
Home is perfect place for farming 😉 My hydroponic cucumbers 🥒and tomatoes 🍅 Keeping it at optimal Ph 6.1 and EC 2.2, you can see same minor phosphorus / potassium deficit (burned leaves edges) but otherwise growing nicely. Bird's eye view of our backyard garden. We installed the three beds in the middle five weeks ago and they're my favorite part of the garden. We still have more projects to tackle, it's always a work in progress, but it's fun to see how much things have changed!
So here are some pics from our Cultivando tu Cena food demo, led by Sandra from @myvidaverde. We harvested and together cooked a super delicious Jardín Bowl, all ingredients harvested on site!! I want to thank everyone that showed up to share in community and really bring farming full circle. So much lies on our plate! . I'll be posting more images this week because it was such a lovely time and the food was so delicious. My favorite part was seeing everyone participate and get to know each other. We are abundant in joy! And you bet we'll keep cooking it up at the garden 🥗🥗🥗
Something I worry about a lot on here, when I post tip after tip on ways to improve your social media and marketing efforts, is that my feed will become one that feels to all of you like “ugh, more things I *should* be doing.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It always makes me pause before I hit publish. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But last night as I was scrolling through my Instagram feed for FUN(!!), I thought about how Instagram and really any kind of marketing tasks are what you make them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you feel like Instagram is a chore you hate, or a game where you’ll never know the “rules” then chances are, that’s what it will be for you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But if you see it as a way to connect with a community of other farmers, and customers—people who do what you do or people who do things completely differently than you—then this chore can suddenly become something to enjoy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On this #mentalhealthmonday, it seems like a good day to check our perspectives and see if a change is in order. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What do you love about this social media platform? WHO have you connected with that you wouldn’t otherwise? And can you change your perspective to add more enjoyment to this important part of your business?
Spring bouquet from a couple weeks ago that I picked at my mother-in-laws house. She has some peony roots that are going to come live at my house this fall! Not many flowers for me yet, but when I can get enough I’m enjoying doing the design work and playing with the colours and textures #buddingartist#flowerplay#flowerfarmer#urbanfarmer#slowflowers#peonies

Roses are a stunning addition to any garden. With their delicate and fragrant blooms, these @david_austin_roses are a show stopper. If you’re looking for their function in your food forest or permaculture design, roses make an excellent Japanese beetle trap for plum and cherry trees. Rose petals have beneficial properties for the skin and can be added to baths and creams. Rosehips, the fruit of the plant, make a tea rich in Vitamin C. Further, roses all make an excellent companion plant to grapes, acting like the canary in the coal mine by letting farmers know when certain fungi are present. Have I convinced you yet? 🌿 . . . . #foodforest#permaculturedesign#companionplanting#davidaustin#davidaustinroses#polyculture#urbanag#urbanfarmer#womenwhofarm
