Getting my wisdom teeth out has not been a super fun experience, but that first day had a lot of laughs. Firstly, anesthesia makes me really happy apparently. Secondly, (thankfully) @andyitslit was there trying his hardest to understand my mumbles and laugh at my silly jokes. (I think he laughed out of pity but I’ll take it). 😝 . . My point is that even when we’re going through something tough, laughing helps us heal. On the science side: laughter releases endorphins which relieves pain. On an intellectual/ spiritual level: embracing the joy in the darkest times reminds us there is hope; there is still good in the world. 🌍⭐️ . So whether you’re healing from something physical or otherwise- put on your favorite comedy or call your funniest friend and laugh it up 😂🤣😜

Smoothie bowl success!⠀ ⠀ I am currently going plant based with a sprinkling of lean protein in the form of wild fish and organic poultry. ⠀ ⠀ This has moved me to release carbs even root veggies, processed sugar, dairy and few other comfort foods I have been holding onto. ⠀ ⠀ I am happy to report that what I am eating and adding even more of to my plate are colorful fruits and veggies.⠀ ⠀ One of my favorite ways to get healthy fat, protein and amazing fruit into my diet is a smoothie.... check this one out⠀ ⠀ 1 cup frozen mixed berries⠀ 30 grams collagen protein powder⠀ Handful of kale⠀ 1 T MCT oil⠀ 2 drops lemon essential oil (pure and therapeutic grade)⠀ ⠀ Coconut, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds and fresh fruit on top - or whatever you like.⠀
What’s the one thing your teachers always told you to do when taking a test?⠀ .⠀ Trust your first instinct.⠀ .⠀ Rarely does going back to change your answer work in your favor.⠀ .⠀ In my own life, my first instinct has always proven to be the right choice.⠀ .⠀ Like when I received an email while in my doctoral program offering scholarships for a week spent rebuilding homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and Mississippi. I had never been to the Gulf. I knew no one going. I really had no idea how to build, well, anything.⠀ .⠀ But on a whim, on instinct, I applied. Right then and there.⠀ .⠀ It’s not over-exaggerating to say that that week completely changed the trajectory of my life. After a second trip back, I returned home, left my Ph.D. program, ended a long-term relationship, and moved back home while I applied to Master’s programs (ultimately leaving CA for Chicago).⠀ .⠀ Or that time in college when, after spending spring break on a service learning trip in San Francisco, I decided on a whim to apply (after the deadline, no less) for an entire semester in the city. Never in a million years did I think I’d go BACK to the Bay Area to study but my 3 1/2 months there shaped my worldview and perspective, exposed me to culture and diversity, and opened me up to some of my most life-changing experiences.⠀ .⠀ It’s happened in big and small ways all throughout my life. That quiet, steady voice has never steered me wrong. In any situation. Ever.⠀ .⠀ Trust your instinct. It’s there to guide you, to help steer you on the right path, to show you things you need to see, to mold you into the person you’re meant to become. ✨
If you are feeling alone, you may be lacking connection with ... yourself. Funny how we think it is other people who reject us when it is we who tend to reject ourselves. Be a good friend, listen to your struggles and empower yourself with some kindness. When you do, that lonely feeling can lighten and change into a desire to help another. Don’t resist, persist in living a quality of life that makes you feel proud and connected to others and to yourself. PS. You deserve that.

So make sure that whatever you’re doing RIGHT NOW is a deposit worth making in for your future. Today I deposited more SELF, being with one of my favorite human beings. . . Love the way you think, act, eat, sleep, achieve, and fail. Own every action and move you make. Don't be consumed by fear and jealousy. Your soul has the desire to fulfill so much, so why allow a part of your body (brain) to create limitations. We were not born with knowing such a thing. The power of a deep breathe can go a long way, so take a couple. Thoughts will appear regardless of how happy or sad you are. Always allow them to come and go like the clouds in the sky.
