A little evening reading before bed! There is such a misperception about books like this because they may be deemed as self help when in fact, they’re self-love books. This is my second “bettering myself” book (my first was @gabbybernstein ‘The Universe Has Your Back’... also a fantastic read) and I can tell you for sure that they have changed my frame of thinking - not only about life but about myself which, as a mom who has gone through many changes in pregnancy and motherhood in many facets of my life, both physically and otherwise, is very important. In small situations that would typically irritate me (ie sitting in traffic or being cut off - yes both driving related because I willingly admit I’ve always had a touch of road rage), I now look at them differently - with positivity (ie. maybe that person who cut me off is on their way to the hospital to see a loved one); I give situations and people in them the benefit of the doubt. As a mom of a toddler and a 3 month old, I’m constantly challenged and every button I have (buttons I didn’t even know I had) are constantly being pushed - limits tested, etc etc. Even though at times I am unable to practice this myself, I understand the importance of taking a deep breath and having or trying to regain my patience and be positive - these books have helped me do this.
🌟🏆 ONE YEAR 🏆🌟 With Finns first birthday just passed, we also celebrated 1 year of exclusive breastfeeding. To mark the occasion, I wanted to share some cool shit I've found out about breastfeeding since being a mum. Because women (and men) have no idea about breastfeeding anymore, it's becoming a lost art, and the lack of knowledge/information sharing on the subject is just setting up future mums for failure and furthur declining breastfeeding rates around the world. Knowledge is power, so educate yo'self ladies (and gentlemen). . 🔹When baby latches onto mum, a "spit backwash" is created between the nipple receptors and baby's saliva. Mums body reads information from baby's saliva and changes her breastmilk composition when baby is sick so that her milk contains masses of antibodies/immune cells to help baby fight the infection . 🔹Breastmilk is a natural analgesic for baby. Studies measuring cortisol levels in babies whilst feeding during/after pain/trauma have seen no decrease in levels when formula was given, some decrease when expressed breastmilk was given, and a large decrease when baby fed from the breast . 🔹Based on human anatomy/biology, the natural weaning age of humans is around 4-7 years of age. This is very taboo in western culture obviously, but women in many cultures around the world are happily breastfeeding for this duration . 🔹Run your tongue along the roof of your mouth, starting behind your front teeth and heading towards the back of your mouth until you hit a spot where it goes from hard, to soft. This is how far baby draws the nipple back into their mouth . 🔹Breastfeeding is important when it comes to craniofacial growth. When latched, the breast fills up babies mouth and supports the palate. This in turn supports other things to grow optimally (I.E teeth, septum) so there's less chance of sleep disorders and orthodontic work needed when baby is older . 🔹Mums milk changes at night to include (among other things)
Happy Birthday to my sweet sweet girl! She is such a wonderful light in this world. Generous, caring, loving, beautiful, and just full of energy! You can most likely find her dancing and singing around the house. Dancing is an activity she loves and she gets so excited to go to dance class each week! She’s a great helper and loves to learn new things. Her favorite book is the Bible and she loves to ready it every night and talk about what she’s learning. Super Heroes are her jam, especially Wonder Woman and she’s deemed herself “Wonder Elena.” She is such a wonderful big sister to her brother and absolutely adores him. I couldn’t be more proud to be her momma and I can’t believe she’s 4! Thank you, Lord for blessing us with such an amazing daughter and trusting me to be her momma. Happy Birthday, Elena! I love you so very much! ❤️

(Little stressful but worth it) • Yesterday, Jamesynn and I made gluten-free Pumpkin & Thyme Butter Gnocchi from the @halfbakedharvest cookbook. I couldn’t find my fresh oregano so thyme & dairy-free butter worked perfectly.😍 • YES, they may not look professional and my kitchen may look like we had a party with flour...but in the end it was a SUCCESS!!🙌🏼 My family loved it and everyone is about to get this cookbook for Christmas.😂🎁
