You know what I think one of the coolest parts about nursing is? - The paths we take to get there. - Before pursuing nursing, I wanted to be: a journalist, a physical therapist, a veterinarian, an international public health humanitarian, an adventure guide, & so much more. - In an educational or professional capacity, I have pursued all of those things and then some. - Collectively, they’ve given me the experience and certainty I need to pursue nursing with a fervor that wasn’t there before. - Some people know what they want to do right out of the gate, and I think that’s awesome. But what I also think is awesome, is the people who come to nursing after 5, 10, 20 years of experience in other things. - What’s your story? Body type: works out but definitely drinks beer 🍺 ...and when it’s a P.O.G. IPA, you know I can’t resist 🤤🌴🌺 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Deprivation DOES NOT WORK for me. Eliminating entire food groups DOES NOT WORK for me! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What DOES work for me? Mindful nutrition, intuitive eating, and finding my personal “balance” with food. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The main reason I struggled with getting lasting results in the past was because I had this “all or nothing” mentality. I felt so restricted I just could not maintain it for more than a few weeks. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So my message for you today is to strive for balance, not perfection. Incredible things start happening to our minds and bodies when we start being kinder to ourselves 💛
Didn’t want to post another photo of myself, but also didn’t want to miss another #flexfriday 💪🏼💕 I woke up extra early this morning even though I didnt work today so I could start my day on a positive note. After all of the negative thoughts that have been swirling around this 🧠 for the last few days, I just wanted to be able to have a slow day, but also be able to get everything I needed to get done... done! I finally hopped back on the scheduled #studiotoneitup workout and I’m glad I did.. I’m not into yoga. AT ALL. But the morning mantra was just what I needed to get my head right. Afterwards, I took in the pretty lil sunrise and went on a walk.. I ran the first mile and shaved a whole 10 seconds off my time. I’ll take it 🏆! I’ve been eating well and not being at work means 🚫🍫 for sure and I’ve done a great job of that today! I hope everyone has been having a great day. I’m so thankful for this community and for those who have checked in on me and helped me through my negativity.
