The reason why most people don't meditate is that they think they're not supposed to let their thoughts control them during meditation. And there they stop. This seems godly impossible, right? The problem is not in the practice itself, but in the way we perceive it and understand it. See, I used to be just like that. I thought of meditation as a way to relax and feel calmer only to become anxious about how hard it is once I sit to meditate. I actually had more anxiety during and after a meditation session than I had before sitting and closing my eyes. I even used to get super frustrated at the end of each session and overly obsess about the next one. I thought I was a loser, that I would never get better at it and that meditation was ultimately just not for me. What makes meditation very complex is the expectation we have: We want to get to that next stage where we do it right. But the truth is that there's not next stage, because meditation is not about getting better at meditating. Meditation itself is not an outcome. It's a tool, a process. And when we are so attached to what it would bring us and how good we'll be at it in the future, we are trapped! I came to realize along my journey that when I didn't attach to the judgement I used to hold and place on myself and on the practice, I had a clearer vision of what I truly want in life during each session. Meditation is not just about going zen, not just about focusing on your breathing. This is only one aspect of the practice. What meditation is about is actually freeing the space in your mind that is mostly ruled by the subconscious and to tap within yourself to understand the way your thought patterns work. What you'll get is a clearer vision of what you are here to achieve. You'll start to leave behind what your mind dictates, what you mostly execute without proper awareness on a daily basis out of habit, routine and society conditioning. Not because you try to stop it but because you start to understand it

We are halfway through 28 days of Transform Your Life with Gratitude. Two years ago I embarked on this transformational 28-day journey, solo.
