Projected NC coastline in thirty years is straight up scary. My daughter will be 33 in 2050 which is my age now. I can’t imagine the world she is going to have to navigate. This mural is at @trophybrewing in Raleigh painted by @greenwayartist. Climate change is already happening but we still have a chance to minimize the damages. We all live on this planet and we all need to do as much as we can RIGHT NOW. Eat less meat, be zero waste, buy hybrid cars, take public transport, buy used items, recycle, be vocal to industry and your elected officials, demand a circular economy. YOU are lucky enough to be alive during this critical time and your changes however small or large can make a difference for the Earth and humanity.
Not 10% or 20% but 50% 😱 #repost @mama.eco with @get_repost ・・・ Can you believe it? _ It’s crazy to think that half of all of our waste is packaging. To me, this just feels like something that’s totally avoidable. We don’t need layers and layers of packaging, much of which can’t even be recycled. There just has to be a better way. _ One of my moonshot goals in life is to have an incubator for solving problems just like this. Finding sustainable alternatives to single-use packaging, like truly biodegradable packaging that could even be planted in your garden as fertilizer, or designing products where packaging is actually a part of the product itself and is not thrown away. _ There just has to be a better way. And the world is filled with so many ingenious people that I have no doubt that a better solution exists. _ If you agree, drop a YES! in the comments below. _ _
Consumerism is a social and economic order that demands that we acquire things in ever-increasing amounts. The Industrial Revolution and mass production led to an economic crisis: the supply of goods exceeded demand, and so manufacturers turned to planned obsolescence and advertising to manipulate consumer spending. Every month ushers in a new holiday/celebration wherein we are expected to procure gifts for our loved ones or risk appearing not to care for them enough. Every season brings new fashion trends to invest in only to see our new wears disintegrate after a few spin cycles. Every child's birthday party requires an exchange of cheap plastic crap wrapped up in bows for the cheap plastic crap found in party favour bags. Our phones, our computers, our cameras, and our cars are all built to fail after few years, or a certain number of miles. Meanwhile our oceans are choking on plastic, our rivers are conduits for toxic pollution, our forests are chopped down, green house gas emissions continue to soar, indigenous peoples are displaced, and people in the Global South are brutally exploited for their labour. All for what? For economic growth? So we can keep on buying cheap goods that we don't need that will almost certainly fall apart after a handful of uses? This culture of consumption is a culture of destruction, and it must end. Everything about the way that we live must change. We must divorce the West's prosperity from the growth economy, and build a new economy that exists harmoniously with the Earth's ecosystems. It is possible, we just have to demand it. . The youth around the world know the truth about our politicians’ and world leaders’ “progress” and “development”... We know that this is killing us, and has been for decades now. We know that it only serves the few rich and powerful, while leaving everyone else to die. We understand that they want us to inherit this “progress” and “development”, but we see through all their lies… we are standing up and giving back this future they want to give us, because we don't want it… we are telling them to do better, to make us proud instead of disappointed… we are the youth and future of this world, and we are demanding that our politicians and world leaders do better.. hear our voices, our power, and watch us rise ✊🌏 Marched to @cathmckennaottcen office and had a moment of silence for the Future we won't have... @justinpjtrudeau what will you do to save us? #futurerisingottawa#fridays4future#schoolstrike4climate#climateaction#thereisnoplanetb#savetheearth#savethefuture

#fridaysforfuture Curitiba 24/05 #mudançasclimáticas#globalwarming#aquecimentoglobal#climatechange#thereisnoplanetb
