I had just finished cleaning my apartment, ready to relax and enjoy my evening, when I spilled something on my pristine couch. I was so done with cleaning at this point, but of course I had to take the slip cover off of my couch and throw it in the wash. Well, turns out when I moved my couch to take the slip-cover off, there were actually dust bunnies behind it and some crumbs in the cushions. What started as a little annoyance, revealed to me a place I had overlooked that needed cleaning. 🧹 I feel this translates over to life in a similar way. You may be tidying up your life in obvious areas like eating healthy foods, moving your body, getting proper rest, etc but the places where you need to do the deeper clean are usually not as visible. Where are your emotional dust bunnies hiding? I’ll give you a hint. It’s in the spaces of your life where you get angry, or anxious, or sad or feel shame. When you get triggered, which is a natural part of growth, take a moment to reflect on why this feeling has arisen and what it is offering to teach you. The next time you feel anger, don’t stuff it down, instead express it in a healthy way. If you feel shame, write your heart out on a piece of paper and then set it on fire. If you feel sad, let yourself release as many tears as you need to. Clean out those emotional dust bunnies from your life, clear the cobwebs out of the corners in your mind where you don’t often look. Do the deep clean on a soul level, and notice how much lighter you will feel afterwards.
You have to try on a couple before you find the right one. So here are my tips: •interview your therapist. Ask them questions. Remember they work for you. And... •you can always fire your therapist too. Hence the need to “try on a few” before settling. Oh, and... •DON’T ever SETTLE. When you find a therapist that gets you, it’s seriously a game changer. You’ll actually maybe even look forward to therapy. (At least, that’s what I want my clients to say!)

Yesterday I went to the gym and it was one of the first days of going back to the gym since the Tough Mudder in early September. I have been sick on and off. I quit my job after the semester ended and just kind of trying to go with the flow of things. Which isn’t easy for me. It’s something I know I want to work on to better myself. Although last semester was one of the best semesters in my life because I did realize I love doing that. Today I started my practicum at a physical therapy facility and it set so much positive energy towards me. The energy in the facility was awesome. The people were great too. The human body is an incredible machine and learning about the mechanics of it has really interested me in the past year and a half. For those of you who don’t know I am going to school to be a personal trainer and I also plan on going to physical therapy school in about 2-3 years. #love#happiness#humanbody#mechanics#exercise#therapy

You owe it to yourself to take care of yourself. 🙌🛀 this past year someone tried to hurt me and hurt my thinking of how I am as a mom. This person said to me "well..your good at taking care of yourself." It was NOT meant to be a compliment. And it bothered me..it bothered me as a person and as a mom. I felt ashamed for putting myself on the top of my list. And that person won. In that moment and months to come I neglected my passions and joys. But fast forward a year later. I'm thinking damn right I take care of me. I'm a mom and a wife. And I can be a much better mom when I am taken care of. ______________ Don't shame others who work on themselves! It's amazing how far our legs can take us and to be able to see all that our beautiful earth has to offer. I'm so grateful to be able to have my physical health and see as much as I have the past few days. This was one of my favorite hikes so far. 4 mile hike into bear canyon trail head was a treat taking in the beautiful sights of the cacti and elevated terrain, the sounds of the river rushing and roaring, crossing 7 river passes in the trail and hopping across the stones getting soaked was a hoot.
