“All good things are wild, and free.” - Thoreaux I am pleased to say that what started as a nightmare has been a blessing in disguise. The sickness that pulled me from the mountains has lead to a great deal of time spent in my own company - something which I have been trying to grow more comfortable with for a while. In these still and solitary moments, I’ve had time to reflect, process, write, and plan - all set to the backdrop of the chaos of Kathmandu. I feel so much clearer about what lies ahead now. Silver linings. The Himalaya, April 2019
It’s sad that the world celebrates today as Earth Day, because in reality every single day should be considered Earth Day. One day out of the year isn’t enough to protect the natural temples that this planet has provided for us to worship. Anywho, here are a few of my favorite photos from my two favorite places in this entire world (Big Sur and Yosemite)!

An alpine meadow + tent = my happy place. . What I love most about backpacking in Kluane National Park and Reserve is the challenge of route finding. There are very few trails here so I am free to wander and explore and camp wherever curiosity takes me. . Kluane is a park where I am much more likely to run into a grizzly than another hiker. This to me is the essence of wilderness, where the wild ones outnumber humans. . The sad truth, however is that the wild keeps losing ground. . There has been so much fluff posted today about Earth Day. There are so many posts about saying no to plastic bags, about recycling. This vacant conversation however, distracts from the real issues, the wealth disparity, greed, overconsumption and most important and least talked about, human overpopulation. This is the discussion that needs attention, not the suggestion that if we just use reusable water bottles we can go to sleep feeling good about ourselves. . I would love to see the "influencers" use their popularity to discuss the real issues but I suppose they wouldn't want to risk their relationships with brands pushing consumerism. #rant . . . . . . . .
Love has been exploding from my body, and heart. This has been the most craziest, and joy-filled season of my life. It’s carrying me each day and absolutely transforming me. I’m constantly being blown away by the love I am receiving. I have the greatest people ever. That goes for strangers as well.
