When things get stressful, don't forget to breathe! I don't know about you, but life has been crazy stressful lately! Deep abdominal breathing is so important for handling stress. It's best to get into the habit before it's needed - so it is a default response when you become stressed - but doing it any time greatly helps with your stress level. Let these pictures remind you to stop and breathe deeply for a few seconds, minutes of you can, and see how you feel afterwards.
🤨 Regression, as we know, is a very real part of parenting and often a huge source of frustration, especially when it seemed that your child was really moving forward with a particular skill or set of skills. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🧐 We often see this during the process of learning to swim, particularly in children under the age of 4. One day your little student is actually starting to swim or has just mastered a particular milestone and then not two lessons later, suddenly doesn’t want to swim at all and cries when you try to coax them off the steps. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here are some helpful tips to get through this period: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1) Don’t push harder. This only strengthens your child’s resolve to resist further. Instead, relax the structure for a bit. Increase free play, game time, avoid the more direct skills that elevate the child’s anxiety. Do what you know is ‘safe’ to them even if it seems ridiculously rudimentary. Even shortening the lesson by 10 minutes can have a profound effect on reducing anxiety. 2) Try to pinpoint where the resistance is coming from. Is it directly related to new skills, maybe too much too soon? Or is it external, from other sources such as potty training or preschool? If it’s directly related to swim skills, then having a few conversations before you get in the pool to determine exactly what you’ll be doing that day and what games you get to play should help. Additionally, stickers or some small reward at the end of the lesson can really help bolster confidence and a sense of fun. 3) If it’s extenuating circumstances, it can be trickier to navigate because these can last longer. You want the swim experience to be enjoyable above all else so it’s not unreasonable to take a short break. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #takeabreak#regression#mastersswimming#swimcoach#parentinghacks#parenting101#parentinglife
See that glare above my head? That’s called the sun, ☀️ we don’t see it very often in the NW through the winter and early spring so I like to remind us all... I so look forward to this day every year when I get to roll my top down, play music loud in my car, blow the dust off my sunglasses, and announce that spring is officially HERE!! 🌷🌈 I love the sunshine because it gives me energy and it’s easier to be in a good mood. Life back in the urban NW (after 16 years in high country/mountains) has taught me a lot about the power of being in control of my mind and how that translates into emotional regulation, which is something that I continue to learn about and accept as a lifelong journey to Mastery. HOWEVER, it sure is nice to feel the invigorating and electrifying effects of pure SUN!! Who’s with me?? #moresunplease#easeandflow#takeabreak#baskinthesun#hellujiahspringishere#bringonthebloom#lightbeing

Wake up, get myself and Emma ready for daycare and work, go to work, strategize, trying to be productive and successful, leave work to pick up my happy three year old, go to the store if needed, pick up nephew, go home and start cooking, take care of the dogs needs, take care of whatever Emma needs while trying to keep track of my food, watch my nephew and daughter play, interact with them and also have my food show on to have as background noise, finish food and everyone eats, them it’s time to do dishes, might hide in the bathroom to get some alone time, and then get Emma ready for a bath and bedtime, lucky if I sleep the whole night. There are days where Emma has complete meltdowns for no reason or because I said no and got onto her. There are days the dogs peed on the floor. I am blessed to have so much to take care of but I also get worn down. I feel like moms are not supposed to show how stressed out we get or how tired we are or anything negative because we are moms. Truth is, I am beyond exhausted. Some days I wish I had a whole day to myself doing nothing but being lazy, but I know that’s not reality because if I had a whole day to myself I would spend it cleaning or getting things done. Moms, you’re not alone. As hard as it is sometimes, we just keep pushing through. We lean on each other and lift each other up. We have these precious children to raise and a house to actually clean. There are so many blessings in the chaos, but it is chaos nonetheless. To the moms who hide in the bathroom to get a few minutes of peace or eat chocolate in secret, and doing the best you can, here’s to you! 🥂 #moms#momlife#reality#itshardbutworthit#loveyourself#takeabreak#parenting#daughters
You are responsible for your care. You need to know the signs that you are getting depressed or manic and know what to do to prevent a full blown episode. It took a long time for me to understand this. It took a long time for me not to just allow my family to make decisions for me. Know your triggers and remove them from your life. Take a break. Get away.
. #bienconmigo#healthcoaching#breath#healthytip#beingmyself#relax#timeoff#laugh#loveyourself#bemorewomen#takeabreak#thinkpositive#feelingblessed#bethankfuleveryday#youhaveallyouneed#enjoylife#healthymind#keepgoing#positivemind#balanceisthekey#integrativenutrition#healthyhabits#mindset#mindfulness

The other important button ⛔️ Whenever you run bad, don’t push it! Take a break, walk it off, read the news, go to the bathroom or go talk to a friend at a different table. Whatever can take your mind off for a little bit is good for you. Even if you say you don’t tilt, but this is still good for a flow change. Again, you can’t change your luck, but you can reduce the time that you are running bad! #pokerplayer#pokerlife#pokerwife#pokercouple#missedblind#takeabreak
