Front yaabs and back yaabs! I’ve been craving some core work lately. Working your back is just as important as working your front, especially for us desk sitters and..erm cough cough aging cough cough people🧐. ~ I was in a drunk driving accident when I was 16 (passenger) and I wasn’t wearing my seat belt. The car rolled 4 times. Instinctually I went into the fetal position and the impact from rolling cause a compression fracture in my L1. The fracture didn’t show up immediately on xrays. Sometimes it takes 48hrs for calcium to build in a fracture. Upon visiting my dr a few days after the emergency room, she found the fracture. I promptly started PT. The pain continued and I grew scar tissue around the vertebrae. I remained in pain for years. The only thing that gave me relief was pain medication and exercise. I used to have a “pill” problem when I was in my late teens, so these days I stay away from them. I’ve seen what it can do to people’s lives. Sometimes it’s worse than street drugs because they are so available. I knew I couldn’t continue to take pills so I started to do yoga and found a lot of relief. When I started yoga I never thought I’d be able to do backbends. However, as my core grew stronger so did my back. I slowly grew strength along with flexibility in this area. That was 7 years ago. I’m never in pain anymore. I take extra precautions when lifting anything. I make sure to work both my front core and my back core. I always take it slow and steady when working this area. 🐢🐢 The human body is truly remarkable.

HOT TAMALE I’m sweatin... it seems like I always have to push myself harder through PM workouts. But I did just that and look at me now.
