Bit of hump day fun for you😁Not sure why mixing paint is so very satisfying - I guess it's the ritual that goes along with it. The smell of the paint, the joy of seeing the colour on the palette and the mindful slowing down to mix the paint to exactly the right shade👌🏻 Do you have a ritual that you enjoy?
Here in my castle You're watching over me As I create my own faith And carve my destiny You can be a flower Tilting towards the sun Or you can be a shooting star Racing up above These walls can't hold me back I break them down as I dream Don't think the world will change you Because you're stronger than you seem Here in my castle You're watching over me As I create my own faith And I carve my destiny . . . A poem I just wrote that I'm dedicating to my paintings. 😂 I'm loving this corner of the room right now!
Question for my fellow artists - do you sign your work? Why or why not? I’ve always signed my original work such as paintings, but not my photography or prints, & I am very curious to know what everyone’s thoughts/practices on signing artwork are because I can’t decide if I want to sign my photographs & prints!💛
I took this reference photo from our boat a few weeks ago when it wasn't 40 degrees and rainy! Summer - you can happen any time! This little 18" x 6", which includes a vintage Lake Minnetonka map, will come along to Edina, Excelsior, and Wayzata art fairs!
OK, so maybe it wasn’t hard to tell from my last post that what I was painting was a globe. An 8 foot diameter globe! As a place making artist, this project really took those ideas over the edge. #placemaking#thisplacematters#publicart
* memories • I look too close, zoom in too much.. and it’s all blurry. Fragments of color seeping into my awareness, and drifting back out. Revealing negative space, lost memories, lost time. But when I step back, step away and allow.. I can see again. Clarity Is Not What It Looks Like//2019
I'm super excited about this octopus 😊🐙 I'm wanting to put some spots on it, but I'm trying to decide if I want to get that detailed with it 🤔 I really really think it will look awesome so I'm probably gonna have to do it. I need to get some metallic paint for the keys too. I'm thinking gold or copper. Got to work on the kitchen table some today too on top of getting a lot done around the house and yard 😊❤️💛💚💙💜 Yayyy productive day!!! #wip#octopus#moon#jamiedaviscreations
Let the warmth of the early morning light sink into your bones. Let its quiet, comforting presence give your soul rest and your eyes direction before the world attempts to do so for you. Let the morning light lead you. And then become the light; become a lighthouse ✨ // Become the light that others need when they are too weary to seek it in the dark, or don’t know where to look. Share your light and keep sharing and sharing, because you know this light is endlessly abundant and ever-present. It’s purpose is not to draw into itself, but to be positioned outward toward others to draw them to its source. And because you know the source, beginning each morning soaking in its light, you get to be a lighthouse for others in their darkness of night, leading them home. Thank God for morning light. “A lighthouse doesn’t save the ships; it doesn’t go out and rescue them. It’s just this pillar that helps guide people home.” - Lea Michele My beautiful friend @libertegrace called me a lighthouse the other day, and her words meant so much. Learning what it means to be a lighthouse for others is worth the time and energy spent standing firm in the dark for the source of my Light 💛 //
Finally starting to feel like I’m getting back in the swing of things over here - out with the old, in with the new... ⠀⠀ Y’all - it is SO easy for me to just forget about social media. Half of me thinks I need to set a schedule for posting and follow it to the letter and the other half of me says no, go at your own pace, it’s better for you even if it’s not better for business. For now I’ve decided to listen to the latter half. Continue to focus on my family and make time for myself - whether that means painting or taking a bath or something else - and not stress about everything. Thank you to everyone that continues to follow and support my art journey 💙 ⠀⠀ ☀️You can do anything, but not everything - David Allen
When we moved to Nashville about a year and a half ago and started house hunting, all I cared about was a studio! I fell in love when I saw this sunroom and honestly the rest of the house had so many things on our checklist- it was truly meant to be ours. ⠀ ⠀ It’s bigger than my studio at our first house, which has enabled me to work larger and as our daughter gets older, there’s more space for her to play while I work. ⠀ ⠀ I’ve always loved having my studio at home, even before kids, but now it’s so special to share my supplies with my 3 year old and let her create every day and get messy. I hope both of my girls grow up and think of this as the play room & a place for fun & creativity where mom happens to work. ⠀ ⠀ I really want to try some new activities with her and just brought a little table into my studio just for her. What crafts & activities do you suggest for a 3 year old besides watercolor paint? ⠀ ⠀ My cat Clementine walked by just as I was taking these pics. 😆 too funny, had to use it! Originally I wanted my daughter to be running around the table in a blur for this pic but she didn’t feel like it. Ha! 3 yr olds... 🤷🏼♀️ ⠀ ⠀ #artistmotherpodcast#artistmotherco#artstudio#studioscenes#wherewomencreate ⠀
