Have you ever asked yourself where the time has gone? . . . I sometimes can’t believe how much time has passed and that I’m getting closer to 40. I’ve passed that 35 mark now and think a lot of about where I’m going and what I’ve done. . . I feel that it’s extremely healthy to have time to reflect. I’ve had such a wonderful life but I realize that I haven’t always seized the day. I’ve done it with some elements of my life but I haven’t always done or taken the bull by the horns for what I’ve wanted. Surprisingly it’s the little things that I haven’t jumped at as I felt that there is always time and had a meh mentality for going after it. . . This year after having a few personal blows that shook me to the core, I realized that today is the day and every day is the day. Don’t wait around and don’t just be somewhat satisfied..... be everything you can be and be freaking happy. Demand happiness and remind yourself you’re worth it. . . Don’t let life pass by with being just ok.... be great and feel great. The only thing with this rule is you can’t put it on others. You have to demand it and you have to command it. Others will follow suit but you can’t point your finger at others for missing out on these things because we have the choice to be who we want to be and do the things we want to do. . . So I’m doing just that this year. It’s figuring out who you want to be now in your adult years and what you want to do with your time and where you want to go! Times passes so quickly friends so live it up as we all need reminders to live the best life. If only I could laugh about the end results of all of my procrastination incidents. Sometimes we can pull something together last minute to make up for procrastinating. There have been other times when there were more serious consequences like major late fees or hurt feelings because I didn't come through like I was supposed to for someone. We know we don't procrastinate due to laziness so how can we overcome the urge to do it when faced with boring, overwhelming or uninspiring tasks? 1️⃣Try the minute dash method. Just start the task and work at it for a short period like 1-2 minutes. Be done and then go back to it for another mad dash and do another minute or two. You can do anything for a minute. Most people gain momentum and find they can then just complete the task. 2️⃣ Make a list of each step for the task. This is my favorite strategy. When you see the task broken down, it's not as overwhelming. Tasks seem achievable when you can see the parts. 3️⃣ Use a commitment device. I've never tried this but had a few clients who really like this technique. You give a trusted friend a significant to you amount of money. You set a deadline to complete the task. If you meet the deadline, the money is returned to you. If you don't meet the deadline the money is donated to a charity or maybe a political party or cause you really don't like.
