💥Get Those Horseshoes💥 _ It's triceps tips this Tuesday! #tiptuesday  Just like a tricycle has 3 wheels, the triceps is comprised of 3 heads, and to get a fully developed look (the horseshoe everyone wants) you need to work all 3 heads! _ 👉Lateral Head: situated most laterally on the back of the humerus. It forms the lateral aspect of the triceps "horseshoe." _ 👉Medial Head: lies in between & deep to (under) the other heads of the triceps. Because of its orientation, this head of the triceps is largely not visible, although it definitely contributes to the mass of the triceps muscle. _ 👉Long Head: the longest of the triceps heads. The long head is longer because its origin is on the scapula as opposed to the humerus itself like the other two heads. _ Slide through the infographics to make sure you hit all the triceps heads, and work toward fully developing your triceps! Added some bicep work in as a treat at the end of a long sesh (details below). Not done a whole lot of these since I switched to a “performance” focus. I’ll have to be careful or I might actually build some muscle. Leaning against the frame as I’m a cheater, this way I can’t swing and use momentum. ⚡️ADDUCTOR STRENGTH⚡️⁣ ⁣ ✊Here are a few variations of the Copenhagen side plank that I use with my clients. It’s primary use is to strengthen the adductors (groin area) which probably doesn’t get enough attention in most people.⁣ ⁣ 🏃‍♀️If you’re an athlete, it’s wise to balance out the strength at your hips to stay injury free. This is a great way to prevent groin injuries which are common in sports such as hockey and soccer.⁣ ⁣ 🙊There are a few variations to choose from. Here I have 3 that I commonly use listed from easiest to hardest.⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣Copenhagen Side Plank (Bent Knee)⁣ ⁣ This is the easiest version. That said, don’t be fooled... this is definitely not easy to begin with. If the straight leg version bothers you, stick with this one.⁣ ⁣ 2️⃣Copenhagen Side Plank (Straight Leg)⁣ ⁣ Straightening your leg makes this exercise way harder. Keep in mind this does place some stress on the medial side of the knee. If this is painful, stick with the bent knee version.⁣ ⁣ 3️⃣Partner Copenhagen Side Plank (+Leg Raise)⁣ ⁣ This is certainly the most difficult version. Having a partner hold your leg does a few things. There’s inherently more instability than placing your leg on a bench. The partner can also hold your leg higher than a standard bench. "Swing A" from "Kettlebell 101" by @sokolstrong 💪 Even though it's about practicing the movement and not breaking records I used the Beast for the Deadlifts and it was totally fine 👍 . I decided to go through the progression laid out in KB101 like this: 6 Weeks - Swing A + TGU Practice (from KB101) with 16Kg➡️6 Weeks - Swing B + TGU Practice with 20Kg➡️6 Weeks - Swing C + TGU Practice with 24Kg➡️Alternate between Workout 1&2 until my HKC in October . I never really understood the "Hiss!" while exhaling until I saw the way Jeff explained it in KB101 and it finally clicked for me💡 It really helps to generate tension. . . . Solid Session In The Books ✅ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After coming off a de-load last week the body felt primed and ready for some testing - and a little battering ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Session Details: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ WOD - Lynne 5 rounds for max reps Bench press @ bodyweight on bar Pull ups (I did strict, not kipping) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2 minutes max rest between each round ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My rep splits 11,11,8,7,7 16,14,12,10,10 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Incline DB press 10,8,6,6 BOR 10,8,6,6 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Dips Face pulls T2B 4x15 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Conditioning Finisher ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1.5k Ski *every 250m do: 5 power cleans 5 thrusters ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Absolutely loved this session, ticked all the right boxes for me and it was my first time trying Lynne. A lot harder than I anticipated 🙃 (like a lot of crossfit WOD’s on paper).
