Got to meet someone I’ve admired from afar on Instagram today. She’s a self-taught silversmith/writer/mom @twomedicinesilver who just happens to live nearby...which I must add, is a very relative term here in Montana, where an hour’s drive across the wide open spaces is considered “nearby” 😂 Anyways, Kara was kind enough to open her home up to me and the little guy — showing us her work studio and all the beautiful creations that came into being there. We visited on her front porch (which has a pretty fantastic view of the Rockies), enjoying the smell of the buffalo bone broth that was simmering inside while our kids tore around the yard. Couldn’t have been more than a few minutes after they disappeared into the backyard that we began to hear a strange clanging echoing through the quiet country air. When we went around back, we found the clangs belonged to a tractor bumping along the neighboring lot...but also found that our toddlers and the family dog had managed to scale two barbed wire fences, run clear across a big field, and were busy exploring an old homestead. I should’ve expected something like this was bound to happen, as my toddler skipped the walking stage and went straight from crawling to running! 😂 Gave us moms both a good giggle. Thankful we live out in the country where situations like that aren’t a dire emergency. Before I left, I was lucky enough to snatch up this beautiful Sonoran dendritic rhyolite ring and have spent the rest of the day staring into its pretty face. It reminds me of the dusty rose desert landscape that unfolds below on the flight from Montana back to visit my family in California — the dusty blanket of mauves and browns, stitched with river valleys that snake their way through the studded rocky peaks — a flight I’ll happily be making again next week ❤️
> . . I think I want to keep every single one of these TALON RINGS ✨ They are so vibrant and one of a kind! . . I will be offering these made to size in a MINI SHOP UPDATE this Friday! I will also have a small selection of hairforks as well. I’ll post more info tomorrow about the specific time👌🏼
Something very important to me since I work from home full time as an artist is continuing to learn and grow as a metal smith and learning new techniques. Today I took a class from an amazing teacher/mentor and did my first prong and shadow box set with this faceted black onyx I got in Tucson. I’m pretty obsessed! Scroll for more photos of this beauty!
I hope everyone is having a great day so far☀️I've been engrossed at my bench for the last week or so, finalizing some unique and original turquoise statement pieces that I will be listing over the next few days. I've been enjoying the practice of creating freeform style jewelry and embracing the discipline this technique requires and also savoring the freedom it allows. It is an art form that is quite rewarding when the artist can give herself or himself the freeform to "let go" and trust the flow 🌀 This artistic and one-of-a-kind #turquoisering is currently available✨Inquires Welcome via Etsy chat✨Link to my Etsy shop is on my bio/profile page▶️You can also follow my Instagram story as I often feature pieces of #handcraftedjewelry that will be listed soon or that have recently been listed ~•~ as well as stones that may be available for custom orders. #showmeyourrings#turquoisejewelry#turquoiselovers
