This year again, I didn’t have the chance of seeing many of my dear coffee friends. It was amazing because I knew that they were there but Expo is every year bigger and bigger and there are so many things to do, meetings to attend, lectures, etc... and time flies and when you realize it is time to go, you are super tired and HANGRY To all of my friends I didn’t see I hope to see you soon and have the time to chat with you. I hope this will be a prosper year for all of you and your plans, goals, dreams and hopes will come to fruition This was an interesting Expo and Re:CO also, all the discussions, conversations and talks were focused on what’s going on with coffee prices, market, producers, sustainability, and many more, but specially The future of coffee I saw a booth that said “we are all in this together” and I just can’t stop thinking that it is totally truth. There won’t be roasters, baristas, coffee shops, importers, brokers and even competition, without coffee. I can’t imagine my life without it, and I’m not the one that drinks tons of it, just 2 cups in the day, unless I’m cupping or calibrating with my guys in Argentina. But regularly, 2 is enough for me. I have many years talking to my students about the importance to pay attention to what is happening to the world: Mother Earth is suffering, is in crisis, We need to hear it because sadly is affecting everything, and coffee is not the exception There are so many people putting extra efforts for our industry, time, resources, research, many of the time totally ad-honorem. I honor all of them. But we still have so much to learn, to growth, to improve ourselves. Because we talk and talk about the “specialty” coffee we have, the origins we sell, the exotic processes, but at the end we are treating it just as a commodity, as a manner of getting money and be “comercial”. And I dislike it. I’m convinced there is a way of being “financial successfully” at the same time that
