As we were walking down the streets of NYC on a chilly Saturday morning I couldn’t shake off the feeling of déjà vu: things from the past I saw with my own eyes and through the eyes of my grandparents and some things that I read in history books. January is marked with a lot of memorable dates, some of them can’t be remembered without certain sadness and pain. It seems that only so recently I saw people standing on the streets of Kyiv (Kiev), Ukraine in January 2014. Long before that, in January 1905, Bloody Sunday in St. Petersburg started an irrevocable process that would eventually divide the world in two. This Monday, January 21, USA is celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and who knows what US would look like today without the marches he led. Even though the above mentioned events are completely unrelated, they have a lot in common: they were all planned as peaceful, were intended to make things better and yet, for the most part, while changing the World the way we knew it, ended in violence and human deaths. I couldn’t help but feel grateful that nowadays so many people on Earth have an opportunity to express themselves and then get back home to their families. Most of the time we don’t realize it’s because all of those people went through all of the horrors so, hopefully, we wouldn’t have to. Yet there are still so many things that we need to do; some might say that the scale is incomparable; remind them that it’s paramount to make sure that some things don’t go back to the way they were and history doesn’t repeat itself. I feel so thankful to my friends who with me, to men and women in DPS who were there for us, and to those men and women who walked before me and were left behind so many years ago. . . . . #civilrights#martinlutherkingjr#womensmarchnyc#womensmarch2019#fogoazulnyc#endtheshutdown#sony#sonyalpha#sonya7rii#sonyimages#bealpha#alphacollectie#alphaaddicted#alphahype#alphagang#sony70200f4#adoramapix
Cocoa + coffee are fueling my life with how cold it has been. I usually am super tough when it comes to our winter months but as soon as we get into numbers with - signs in front of them, count me out. Editing with warm beverages and puppy foot warmers snoring under my desk while wrapped in a giant fluffy blanket is where it’s at. What are you doing to stay nice and toasty? ❄️🥶☕️🐾
“You took my hand and walked me into my dark attic That's where my heart was lost and frozen in a casket, my love My soul was mummified You helped me to unwrap it... Cause since you walked on through my door This ain't no haunted house no more”
"I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it. People think pleasing God is all God cares about. But any fool living in the world can see it always trying to please us back." --------------------- It really floors me how many people walk by these every morning and don't feel the incessant need to watch the sky change colors and capture them.
