🥂🍇 Relaxing Sunday with this delightful Pinot Grigio. Delicately fragrant & mildly floral, with light citrus flavors. Depending upon ripeness at harvest & vinification technique, Pinot Grigio can be tangy & light- or quite rich, round & full bodied.
Chateau Carbonnieux 2014. A legendary producer from Pessac-Leognan, the grapes used in the blend are 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon. The Sauvignon Blanc gives the wine most of its fresh aromas and flavors, while the Semillon adds body and roundness to the wine. The clay limestone gravel provides a well drained soil, which Vines tend to thrive in. Grapes have been growing on the property since the 12th century. Marc Perrin restored the chateau back in 1956, and the estate is currently managed by his son, Antony. The wine gives off aromas of black currant bud, stewed golden apples, and toasted almonds, with a slight tropical note. On the palate, the wine lends citrus notes of lemon curd and grapefruit, with a toasted brioche element, along with hints of almonds and a stony minerality. Great acidity, with a creamy mouthfeel. The wine has a refreshing purity in the finish. Fantastic wine from an iconic producer.
