A statement was made to me today that sent me in a downward spiral of self- doubt and destruction. I started questioning who I was, why I do the job that I do, and a whole other host of negative thought patterns. But after a few hours of processing and a lunch date with a good friend, I pulled myself together and gave myself a pep talk like no other. . Maybe you struggle with other people’s opinions and need a pep talk too. If so, feel free to use mine as an example. “You are good enough. Your love for others is apparent, and if someone can’t see that then it’s on them. It’s time to stop letting other people’s opinions dictate your life. News flash: their opinion of you does not matter! What matters is what YOU think of yourself. What YOU believe to be true. Love yourself. Let go of perfection. You nor anyone else on this earth is perfect. So stand in that truth and use it to your advantage. Accept yourself for who you are and for the characteristics, and qualities gifted to you by your creator. After all, He is for you and if He is for you, who can be against you? Believe in that, trust in that, and stop letting the lies of the enemy tell you otherwise!” . Take time to love on yourself. Everyday. That is the key to a happy life. Forgive, but never forget. After all, every situation and circumstance that ent ers your life prepares you for the next.

Throughout the day, check into your mood. Bring awareness to your breathing, then tap into how you are feeling. Angry? Tired? Frustrated? Bored? Whatever your mood, simply notice it, acknowledge it and then return to your task. This is a simple and effective way to break the cycle of unchecked negative moods. Remember how you feel is a personal thing. It's not always reality and we need to be aware of what we are projecting outwards. What strategies do you have to lift your mood? A certain song that always gets you smiling? A friend you can chat to? A special food treat you keep for emergencies? There are many situations in life that cause our moods to become negative. If it is an ongoing situation then you do need to address it either with a professional or a close friend. Bad moods come and go, we all have them. But if it is a consistent sad feeling that lasts beyond the normal time frame then it's good to seek help outside of yourself. It's OK not to be OK. Reach out. People do care. Even though you may not feel it. They do. People aren't mind readers. Ask for help. Keep asking until you get it. You are worth it. #suicide#suicideprevention#anxiety#moody#bitch#emergency#angry#frustrated#tired#bored#cycles#situations#friend#itsoknottobeok#depression#daytoday#mindfulness#socialwork#professional#help#instagood#love#darktimes#selfcare#selflove#live#reachout#youareworthit

Impostor syndrome—the idea that you’ve only succeeded due to luck, and not because of your talent or qualifications. It’s the feeling that you don’t actually deserve your achievements and at any moment the rest of the world will find out. . . . Maya Angelou: “I have written eleven books, but each time I think, “Uh-oh, they’re going to find out now. I’ve run a game on everybody, and they’re going to find me out. . . . Emma Watson: “It’s almost like the better I do, the more my feeling of inadequacy actually increases, because I’m just going, ‘Any moment, someone’s going to find out I’m a total fraud, and that I don’t deserve any of what I’ve achieved,’” . . . Tom Hanks: "No matter what we've done, there comes a point where you think, 'How did I get here? When are they going to discover that I am, in fact, a fraud and take everything away from me?'"

I like to think of #vulnerability as that feeing of standing in front of a door that I have never opened before. I will never know the feeing of discovery with our being brave enough to open the door. I will definitely open doors with something scary or awefull on the other side, and I am not letting that stop me from being someone who keeps opening to new experiences. #doorsofinstagram#openness#discovery#psychotherapy#socialwork
