QOTD.// So a few of you have asked me “what it’s like rolling skating with MS,” and honestly that’s such a fun question so here we go! First thing’s first, having MS, for ME, has been good so far. Not many people with MS can say that. Fortunately, I don’t have too many symptoms at this stage so I meander through life unbothered. The one thing that is prevalent is my terrible balance, which has been the most fun part thus far. When I’m not on my skates, sometimes I walk into things, I look like I’m drunk when I walk 😅 and sometimes just topple over for no apparent reason. Having good company by my side makes it easier to laugh super hard at my complications, because if you can’t laugh at yourself, you’re gonna have a tough time. 🤷🏾♀️ . As for on wheels, balance isn’t as big of an issue as you may think. I feel normal for the most part and I am more motivated than ever to my foot in a boot and roll. My concerns about skating would be numbness, of which I’ve experienced a bit from using muscles in a way I haven’t in a long time. But the more I’ve practiced the less my feet go numb, so that’s a plus. . Overall, I’d say I’m having a great time. I enjoy the successes and cackling at the failures. Thank you @estrojen for lighting the match that sparked a fire in me to skate again. I wouldn’t have it any other way. 🍊
Mya & Lynn.// It’s way too cold (and rainy) to skate outside today so I’m sharing some pretty photos. . For a long time, I never thought I’d find a hobby that truly grasped my innermost self love and inspiration. Skating makes me feel a growth of curiosity for the unknown in regards to see what the world and my surroundings are like from a new perspective as well as the way I can and will push my body to be a better skater with multiple sclerosis.
143/365 . Last minute session in a garage with some lateral hops. The floor is way different than I remember (because roller skating makes you a floor expert) so I kept it quick and dirty. Music by the wonderful @izzuss_music ———— 😈 🌂 🔮 💅 👾 ☂️ 👩🎤 🚺 🤳 💜 #rollerderby#skatedaily#garageskate#lateralhops
