Yesterday afternoon I rode my bike down towards Noosa spit area, then I decided to take my drone up for range test. I ended up going 3km towards Noosa north shore and I saw this shark around 100m of shore. I believe it was great white which looked to be around 5ft. Unfortunately I only had 30% battery left and couldn’t capture anymore 😰 I only filmed 45 seconds of it, which sucks 🥴 . . Would you ever swim with sharks?? Comments yes or no !!!!
The wheel of facts ! After spending 4 weeks on the island, Blueventures put together different games for the kids and awareness material to educate the locals of sarteneja. It was a really successful day and a great finish to the expedition. #sarteneja#belize#travels#volunteer#protectouroceans#blueventures#sharks#games#wildtracks#conservationparty @wildtracksbelize @beyondconservation @ecolivingmedia @volunteerworld_com @ivhq @canon_photos @canonuk @canonusa @nature.explorer.hk @nature_org @conservationorg @sartene.ja @belizephotos Visit: www.lirphotography.com
Happy #earthday 🌏 This years theme is ‘Protect Our Species’! If you’ve been following me for a while now you’ll know how much I love sharks 🦈 and you should love them too, they’re awesome! Did you know that an estimated 100 million sharks are killed every year? 😢 This number is likely to be much higher too, as much of this fishing is illegal. Sharks are also commonly caught as bycatch (caught unintentionally) - particularly in longline and gill nets. Sharks can take a long time to recover from these population depletions as many aren’t sexually mature until later in life - did you know the Greenland shark is thought to reach sexual maturity at 150 years old? 😱 Sharks also typically have what scientists call a “low fecundity” which means that when they do reproduce they only give birth to a few pups 🦈 We need sharks for a healthy marine ecosystem - they’re like the doctors of the sea. If you eat fish, please check the label and don’t buy produce from industrial fishing methods like longlines, gill nets, purse seine nets or trawlers (don’t get me started on bottom trawlers 😡). Pole and line or aquaculture is a much better bet 👍🏻 I’ve tagged some great shark conservation and research organisations who you should follow if you’d like to learn more ☺️ What are you going to do for #sharks this Earth Day?
