PASTA BRUNCH | @lewisandcarrolltea • After a long busy week, we decided to have a quick brunch with pasta. Still many things to finish this weekend, but we are thankful for the quiet time and a good conversation that we can have over pasta and tea. • Lewis and Carroll has always been my favorite tea place in Jakarta. They have many tea selections that tea lovers must try. Despite the fact that we love coffee so much, having tea for brunch is kinda good idea as well. Their pasta is well made and well priced, these two are our recommendations: Tiger prawn linguine fedora (with creamy tomato sauce) and Truffle linguine carbonara. I love how they balance out the flavours that really fit Asians, not too plain nor strong. If you are a sweet tooth, go for the Kyoto Matcha Latte that we will review in the upcoming post soon. For me, I love their Tropical Hibiscus which tastes like pina colada fruit tea. It’s good for the hot weather ☀️ • We are so thrilled for this weekend as we are flying back to Singapore today and gonna try some new places to bring you more brunch options. Have a good weekend folks!

Behold! I found one of my favorite desserts in the world right here in Singapore. When I first saw it at a humble bakery by the Jurong West 505 Market I was first attracted by its exotic name Ambon Kuih (or Bingka Ambon), and the beautiful deep yellow color and honeycomb-like strands. So I got me a slice and... wow! I immediately recognized it to be a tapioca flour, coconut infused cake due to the chewy, moist and fragrant flavors and texture. Having gotten mildly obsessed with this dessert I’ve been researching it and stumbled across the great quest of @ieatishootipost to reproduce this desert original of Medan, Indonesia, in his home. It’s super crazy how this recipe is, at the same time, simple and complex. Having no intention to bake this at home (I’m an horrible dessert baker), I’ve unfortunately have learned from @the_shanghai_kid that it’s not a common dessert in Singapore so may not stumble across it very often. Which is really a shame as it’s a no butter/oil recipe and I think it’d make for a kind of healthy breakfast! If anyone from Singapore has any idea where to find this goodness in city center let me know! . . . . #singaporefood#singapore_insta #singaporefoodie#sghawker#sgig#sgigfoodies#singaporeinsiders#sgeats#sgfood#nomnomnom#foodporn#tablesituation#food52#fuckthatsdelicious#foodiesofig#foodphotography#sgfood#sgfoodie#sgfoodlover#sgeats#kuih#bikaambon#bingkaambon#dessertporn#dessertrecipe
I hate to admit this but some weekends for the last couple of months, our diet have not been comprising of food from the 3 food groups. . And it's all this' fault. . Mala, one of our weaknesses, now it comes in a super convenient packaging. We can't possibly let the generous sauce go to waste right?

Surfing the Korean wave with their newly launched lineup, Sky22’s Korean Fare Buffet is helmed by their Junior Sous Chef from Daegu - Hwang In Yong. Available on Saturdays, Sundays (except on Easter weekend) and for dinner on Fridays till 28th April, the spread is priced reasonably at $56++/ adult and $28++/ child. Though Korean BBQ often comes to mind when you think of Korean buffets, the extensive selections at Courtyard by Marriott Singapore Novena features Korean Classics on rotation. Think Braised Kimchi Pork Ribs, Seafood Pancake and House-made Kimchi. And not forgetting their D.I.Y Bibim Bar with an array of over 20 ingredients to customize your perfect bowl of Bibimbap as well as a Steam & Grill Seafood Bar to get your money's worth. My favourite out of those that we tried was their Galbi Jjim (Braised Beef Short Ribs). Prepared using Chef In Yong’s mother home-recipe, the sweet yet savoury dish was well-executed with the tender and juicy chunks of beef short ribs. The saucy item would go wonderfully with a steaming bowl of white rice. A close second, the heat offered by the Sundubu Jjigae (Spicy Seafood Tofu Soup) was the ideal rainy day comfort food. Flavourful and almost addictively spicy, the sweetness of the seafood was distinct and paired nicely with the smooth curds. But of course, to end the meal on a high note, I would recommend the Hotteok. The warm Korean sweet pancake was a crisp, cinnamony dream. Thank you @courtyardsingapore for the warm hospitality! #burpple#burpplesg#sgfoodie#foodagram#sgfoodies#sgfood#foodsg#foodspotting#foodiesg#throwback#8dayseat#eatoutsg#iweeklyfood#sgeats#sgeatout#igsg#sgig#openrice#stfood#sgbuffet#courtyardsingapore#kimchi#courtyardbymarriott#foodphotography#igdaily#igfood#instafood#foreverhungry#galbijjim#seafoodpancake
Olivia’s Creamy Homemade Cheesecake 2 weeks ago, I would say that my favourite cheesecake in Singapore can be found at @oliviarestaurant_sg. However, given the recent change in recipe, I’m not that sure anymore. Objectively, it isn’t a bad cheesecake compared to its peers here, but the current one is a shadow of its former self. Version 1 is the bottom photo, low image quality, but tops in food quality. A buttery tart crust caresses an almost completely molten cheese body with a slightly burnt top layer that gives a tinge of bitterness. While the manager refused to reveal what types of cheese were used, my guess is a combination of goat milk cheese and cream cheese, with some salt added to them. Whatever it was, it was good enough to make me want to return again. Version 2 has a higher image quality, but loses out in terms of taste and texture. This was taken on my most recent visit. Only about 40% of the body was liquid cheese, compared to an estimated 80% previously. The rest of it had a texture like a hardening curd, with a noticeable taste of eggs. The top layer was replaced by a caramelised crackling crust of sugar, which was a slight bit too thick for my liking. Even the tart crust was different, mostly tasting burnt on this occasion. I’m guessing that the cheesecake is a take on the Tarta De Queso or the Basque Burnt Cheesecake. Since I’ve never tried the one in Spain, I can’t comment on authenticity, or the intended taste and texture. Part of me suspects that something went wrong that day. Maybe the restaurant’s still trying to nail the consistency of the new recipe? Or maybe this is what authenticity tastes like? I doubt that the strong burnt taste and an abrupt transition in texture within the cake were intentional, but I may be wrong. So much changed in two weeks, all I know is that I miss the old version very much 😢 #eeeeeats#instaeats#eattheworld#buzzfeast#beautifulcuisines#vscofood#sgfoodies#8dayseat#f52grams
“If you are happy and you know it burp out loud”🎤 Recently I have visited Burp Kitchen & Bar (Tanjong Katong), a cozy cafe during daytime, and this is the song in my mind after enjoying the spread of yummy food. Tasted the following items: 🍽 Soft Shell Crab Mac & Cheese ($16) 🍽 Truffle Beefy Shrooms ($18) 🍽 Smoked Duck Poppers ($10) 🍽 Cajun Chicken Tacos ($12) 🍽 Smoked Salmon Sandwich ($14) My top most favourite would be the soft shell crab mac & cheese. The soft shell crab was crispy and the mac & cheese is something that cheese lovers would love, it is creamy and cheesy, good for sharing! The smoked duck poppers comprises of fried wanton skin with sliced smoked duck and cheddar & mozzarella cheese. It is definitely a yummy snack as the wanton was crispy and the smoked duck remains succulent. Burp Kitchen & Bar is definitely one of the cafes that eastie should visit to enjoy the yummy food and to relax in the comfy and cozy cafe. Thank you @ashleyoms for the invite and Burp Kitchen & Bar for the warm hosting 📍Burp Kitchen & Bar @burp.tanjongkt @burp.bedokrsv

Dinner was at Tadenoha(たでの葉) Tablelog 3.95 which is a Traditional irori resturant. Setting is cosy, counter seating around the cooking pit. Service is warm and friendly. Uses a live Charcoal fire to grill good quality seasonal ingredients of Fish and Game. A good meal but not the type of cusine I would crave for. #brianchowtokyo
Instead of sharing photos of the wanton noodles, dim sum or Chinese mixed rice that I gorged on after I came home, I wanted to share that we finally visited Mr & Mrs Mohgan's new shop at 300 Joo Chiat (coffeeshop next to Dunman food centre). Even with a bigger space with more seating, we still struggled a while to get a seat at 8.20am and waited almost 40mins for our order (S$5) - 2 plain roti pratas (kosong), 2 egg roti pratas (telur). Not sure if I'm imagining it but though the roti prata was still crispy, I felt it was crispier before. Nonetheless, you can be assured your order is freshly made on the spot. The stall also has a new process where you get a number when you place your order and self-collect when your number is buzzed. Happy to be back for our cheap and yummy local food!😊 . . #sgeats#localfood#rotiprata#mrmrsmohgan#foodtable#eeeeeats#foodfeed#burpple#sginstafood#sgfoodstagram#sgfoodporn
🎶'Tis the season to be JOLLI~🎶 . GOOD MORNING! 🌞 Friends of mine would know that i've BEAN in love with JOLLIBEAN's soy milk & pancakes (especially their thick peanut/red bean mee chiang kuehs) ❤❤❤ for the longest time ever! . Excited with their new product launches - the Soy-Tea series! 🤩 As they ran out of Golden Pearls (yam pearls! Omg!!), i settled for black pearls which were equally soft & chewy even after left aside for abt 2-3hrs! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 . Tried the Black Pearl Soy Tea ($2.70) & this is a combi that cant go wrong, with less sugar working well for me! 💕 The earl grey tea harmonises with the fragrant soy milk nicely - my healthy version of bubble tea!! 😋😋😋 . Gone are the days u'll need a spoon for their silky-smooth beancurd, cuz now i can slurp it up with a straw! 😎 Silky Gula Melaka Beancurd with Black Pearls ($2.70) renders that lingering caramelised coconutty sweetness. 🤤 Wasnt a fan on the first sip but it grew on me & i finished the entire cup in no time! 🐷🐷🐷 Quite filling! . Im keen to try their Golden Pearl Soy Tea ($2.90)! Also new on their menu is Soy Panna Cotta ($4.40), which features dark choc soyfreeze with soy pudding! Sounds good right! 😍😍😍 . Time for me to head down to Jollibean again! Thanks @jollibean_sg for inviting me to try the new drinks 😘
#vegan Naked Kutscher Burger • “Burger” craving satiated at @hansimglueck_singapore 😋 They have an array of vegan and vegetarian burgers for everyone, and provide vegan-friendly sauces as well. I love to have my burger naked, exchanging the bread for more veggies! Also, I love it that Hans Im Glück’s veggies patty does not mimic ground meatless patty like many other restaurants.
