We bought a whole watermelon to investigate how big and heavy it was, how we could chop into it, and how much we would get from it. My son has been a fan since we saw a #playschool episode where they used a melon baller to prepare it, and performed the playschool watermelon song. I think we will be eating watermelon for a week! Yum! 🍉 🍉🍉🍉🍉 #ilikeyoulikewatermelon#pickyeaters#summerfoods#foodplay
#gathercirclesensory is a brand I am building from the ground up. Planting seeds right now and watching some things take a slow root. The purpose behind this brand is Parental support and healthy balancing for caregivers of Children with SPD! Most of us know that Sensory is commonly a secondary diagnosis! Help for parents with children that have a primary diagnosis of ASD or ADHD are numerous, far more than #sensoryprocessingdisorder My goal is to make GCS a community of comrades having a unity in Sensory the very thing that tried to divide, isolate, and desert us from neurotypical activities and environments. Becoming aware of our own minds will help our perspective and thus allow us to have healthier bonds and connections with our children. This creates a healthy, happier home and stability, the one thing these children need, every child for that matter needs!
so proud of my little snowman!! he sat perfectly for 1.5 HOURS at his concert! it was a loud noisy gymnasium with alot of people which is sensory overload for him!! he handled himself so well!! therapy is working!!!! #adhd#add#sensoryprocessingdisorder
This little pilot had such a good day today! Daniel’s Psychologist visited him at daycare this morning to see how he is progressing and how he interacts around the other children and she had some really great things to say. Daniel was really good with showing her everything that we were talking to her about so that helped her to get a clear picture of what is going on... the good news is that she was very impressed with his development. She thinks that he is on par with, or very likely ahead of other children his age cognitively! We rarely hear that he is ahead in anything, so this totally made my day! She believes that he understand very clearly everything that we say, and that he is making up for his delay in expressive speech but using signs effectively. She also believes that his restrictive repetitive behaviours (ie: rocking, head banging, pinching his fingers, And other sensory seeking behaviours) aren’t rooted in behaviour, but are likely rooted in sensory processing. This means that he can’t help doing the things that he is doing, so we just need to make sure to give him positive outlets and ensure his sensory needs are met. We will meet with his Occupational Therapist on Friday and see if she has any more tips for us to help him meet these sensory needs. The idea is that if we can positively give him enough sensory feedback through things like deep pressure, for example, then he won’t need to resort to pinching his fingers in a door. Because he engages in self harm activities to meet these intense sensory needs, we need to find what will work for him to keep him safe and still be sure that his needs are met. Daniels team and I are determined to figure this challenging problem out to help our little guy thrive in this world that wasn’t quite made for him. #danielinthelionsden#dailydoseofdaniel#sensoryseeker#sensoryprocessingdisorder#smartypants#prettyflyforasmallguy
I have something else to be thankful for this evening. I received a phone call from Wyatt’s Autism Center saying they want to waive the cost of his assessment so they can get him in next week...my insurance would’ve covered the cost of the assessment after January 1 but they didn’t want to wait. Since I’ll have the assessment done next week, Wyatt can begin therapy the first week of January. I am so grateful and relieved my son is so close to getting the help he needs. I get so emotional thinking about the day I pick him up from therapy and he runs into my arms saying “Hi mama!” That day is coming soon! #sensoryprocessingdisorder#autismmom#autismspectrumdisorder#nonverbalautism

Eekkk!!! I got a request/order yesterday for a T-Rex themed reward chart so here it is!! I made 2 last night! They came out so cute!! 🥰 ... One is already claimed, anyone else have a dinosaur lover in their life? ... I LOVE making these!! ❤️ ... 👉👉👉ALSO I'll be going LIVE this evening to talk more about how to use this as more than just a reward/behavior chart. You can also use it for fun and games too! 👊 ... Some people feel uncomfortable around bright lighting, especially the fluorescent and artificial lights that are found in many public places today. Natural lighting, on the other hand, can have benefits for all including improved mood and increased productivity!
100% HARD WORK & DETERMINATION!!! Look at this guy crawling with ease, my mind was blown 🤯We've caught him crawling in small spurts but this is the first time we've seen him crawl such a long distance completely unassisted 🙌🏼🙌🏼 This is YEARS in the making (literally, he's almost 4 👦🏻) and so so so MANY hours of him working hard with AMAZING therapists!! Extremely proud of this guy, he continues to make progress every day, he's the definition of #nevergiveup 💙
When your sensory child gets a haircut anything can happen. This time it was daddy’s turn to deal with the tears, yelling, and protests 🤦🏼♀️ Thank you @jeffreysperber for hanging in there with us, our little man looks great. Maybe after another year of this he’ll be used to the idea, in the meantime we will keep telling everyone how awesome you are and tip well!! #rynethomas#sensoryprocessingdisorder#babyboy#handsomeboy#boymom

All I want for Christmas is.... time. U think Santa can do that for me? I pray for time every night. Enough time to raise my children. I love my sweet Fin just the same but I don’t worry about her future like I do Audra’s. I pray for enough time to make sure she’s a happy old lady. 🙏🏽 I’m trying hard to get to 100!! Happy Holidays friends! I hope y’all get everything you want for Christmas! 🎄#Autism #sensoryprocessingdisorder#ifyoufall#iwillcatchyou#timeaftertime
It feels like his NICU days all over again. At that point it was daily they were finding new things “wrong” with him. Today, it’s finding more delays. This time, it’s fine motor. When you see your friend’s kid who’s the same age write their name and your child can barely scribble. I am so grateful he is able to go to OT and work on these struggles. I am also grateful for you, because some of you reading this understand my feelings right now and I am not alone. Also. An we wonder at God together? How is it I was led to ABA, and then years later am running the same fine motor programs on my son.
This week is a struggle for me. The decision to return to work is agonizing. On one hand, I am excited by new adventures. On another, the thought of not being with my kiddos all day is devastating. Also, I worry that returning to full-time work will mean giving up on other dreams that I just found the courage to pursue. I am a wreck. But, life goes on. Nothing has to change today. I am trying to stay present instead of worrying about all the "what ifs". I am repeating the following affirmation: "I am enough". When I am feeling overwhelmed, it is a good way to stay grounded. So, if you are having a day, a week, or a month like mine... You are enough.
So proud of this sweet girl. This is her 3rd week of dance class & she’s doing awesome! It may not sound like a big deal but just last year this would not have happened. She was way too shy to have left me & gone into a class by herself. She teaches me all the time what it means to be brave. What it means to grow & stretch. She challenges me in so many ways & I’m thankful to call her mine. 💕 #thatdancemomlife

Turn off the light & let me sleep 😕😕😕 There’s no way to know whether your dog is formally suffering from anxiety or PTSD unless you take them to the vet. But if the vet diagnoses your dog with something like this, then a weighted blanket may be part of the protocol for calming them down DREAMality Weighted Blankets: Sleep | Stress | Anxiety | Autism | ADHD | PTSD | SPD | RLS | Insomnia | Depression | Alzheimers | Tension | Parkinsons "Why fall in love when you can fall asleep instead? Like and comment if you could enjoy better sleep too! TAG a friend who could enjoy the many benefits of a Weighted Blanket!
This little (not so little anymore) Dude . Since mid Oct he’s gradually been back getting minutes under his belt since returning from breaking his coccyx (twice!) & has been getting nearer & nearer to a full match ... Sunday was the day. . Missing his best mate & partner in midfield was going to be tough, not to mention half the team carrying injuries but he stepped up as Captain & a player to try to drive the team forwards saw him walk away with Man of the Match. Sadly as a team we just didn’t have enough in the tank for the win we need to start turning our season round. . I know thousands of us do it, supporting the kids on the cold, wet Sunday mornings on the sideline but being part of the coaching of this team as well as a parent brings us closer to the lads, being able to join in a training or kickabout with the boys, to see & experience the highs & lows of playing football with them. . We’re talking 12-13 yr old boys here, you know the type, know it alls (this little dude can be one of the worst), there’s always time to mess about when they’re supposed to be listening but we allow for a bit of that & it pays off because the moment they step over that white line on a Sunday they give everything for their mates, the team & the watching parents. . Sunday was an eye opener for the lads as a number of the oppositions parents came over to congratulate them not only for their performance but also because after every game, win lose or draw they jog to our supporters & applaud them for cheering us on . It’s not all about winning, our philosophy is to coach them to better players whilst we’re also trying to form little men through sport.
Everyone reading this, believe in yourself. Yes some days are hard but always remember how strong you are. Life would be boring without challenges and overcoming those challenges makes us stronger. 💪🏼🌻👍
This boy right here is so special to me. My first child. And I am so proud of him. As most of you know (from my openness over the years) he has ADHD, SPD and anxiety. And we are pretty sure he inherited another form of anxiety from his daddy. Most days are a struggle for him. Being around people is a struggle for him. But we have also come a long way. Sometimes we have more bad days than good days. And most days require a lot of patience and prayer. 😜 But each day we are learning what works and what doesn’t. And we have been using some natural supplements that are helping him. . We are always looking for ways to help him (without meds) and today we had half of a 4 hour psychological testing done for him. Just to get a clear picture of where he is at now and what the next step will be. Today he had his academic testing done. We’ve always known he is smart, but wow! Today he exceedingly went above average! Average is a 9 on their scale and he scored 14-16 on all areas! 😳 He was able to answer 5th grade questions correctly and even some spacial reasoning questions at high school level which is pretty impressive. . In the midst of all the rough days, I try to remember all of his good qualities. I love how smart he is. And I’m just so, so proud of him. He loves to learn and be challenged. His idea of fun is asking me to write out a page of hard math problems for him. Lol. But I love it. And I love being his mommy. He really is special in his own little way and I embrace every part of it 💕

The rest of our adventures from this weekend! We had to stop at Troutville, VA for the night since the storm got so bad. Thankfully our hotel was right next to a Cracker Barrel! The rest of the drive home the kids were begging to play in the snow. So once we got settled in at home, I bundled them up and took them outside. Jackson discovered the fun of throwing snow! He also helped me make his very first snowman! ☃️ But he was very disappointed that I didn't have the black hat 🤷 Angela wasn't too thrilled about being a puff-ball but she giggled everytime we hit each other with snowballs lol And lastly, Chloe was SO happy to be back with her people again! ❤️🐶❤️ . . . #travelingadventures#diego2018#firstsnowman#doyouwannabuildasnowman
