Squeezed in 5 miles before sunset tonight!! 🌅 I’m pretty happy with my pace considering it’s 299 ft of elevation and -6 C. ❄️ Room for improvement though! I really want to run sub 9 minute miles (I can do it on a treadmill, but only for short distances)
I’ve been looking at some triathlon and pentathlon race courses lately. I was surprised by how short some of the distances are! 12 km bike + 3km run + 375m swim? I could do that!! 💪🏼 Anyway I can’t commit to the triathlons in the summer just yet because of school and I don’t feel like driving 10+ hours to Quebec in February. ❄️ So I decided to take advantage of the daylight on my day off and do my own little triathlon. It was really fun! My goal was 10km combined and I surpassed that! 🎉To finish it off, there was a fundraiser going on at my ski club and they were selling hot soup so that was a great way to warm up after!! 🍵 It was -7 C so I didn’t want to take pictures outside and risk my phone turning off! (I use my phone to listen to podcasts and track my distances) ❄️ Now for a relaxing Saturday afternoon!
Do you know your opponent? A few people understand what's written in the picture? We as a human are always concerned with defeating others, defeating the one who is against us, our Opponent. But in reality, there is no opponent. If there is, it's you. Your true opponent is you. Your actions must defeat the enemy within you. This philosophy applies not only to running but also in life. If you are beaten in a match, note that you were beaten by your own inability, you were unable to conquer your genetics, your lack of talent, your IQ, your disease, your circumstance, do you see the common thing, it is always YOUR problem. So, keep in mind that you are your own competition. Try to improve the things that are holding you back. Once you know the problems, try to improve it. That's the only right approach for betterment. I’ve wanted to do a colour run for years. I was always working weekends or unable to drive myself 2 hours to the closest race in the past. Last summer I was finally able to participate in a colour run and had a great time with my friend Amalie.
Aw pits! I have a goal to get rid of 50% of my clothing by the end of January. Strangely enough it’s shirts like these that are hardest to get rid of. I think it might be because they remind me all the hard work that it took to get here. Anyone else rockin pit shirts? 🎶Gonna Make You Sweat - C + C Music Factory
Running is a teacher. I learned many life lessons through running like . 🏃The beginning is always the hardest part. Push yourself to keep going. It gets easier. . 🏃People who do things better than you are your teachers, not your competition. . 🏃Often, thinking you can't go on any longer is an illusion. You often can. There are much more lessons and lessons can differ from person to person but every run will teach you something. So, go with the flow and just run. #retirementgoals I see Dan a couple times a week. We talk every once in a while. I run past him while he volunteers his time twice a day to make sure elementary school kids cross the street safely. Dan is the man! 🎶The Man by @thekillers
