I ran a marathon!! 🏃🏽‍♀️💪🏻🎉In May I completed the Edinburgh Marathon and my first ever marathon! It’s been a dream of mine for nearly my whole life and it was such an amazing experience and achievement. It took ALOT of hard work but it was sooooo worth it.  Two years ago I couldn’t finish a 5K without walking and I now can complete 26.2 miles without stopping! I swear nearly everyone can. I get a lot of people asking me how I did it or what they can do to get there and I wanted to share my journey. I’m hoping to be on this more to do just that.  Whether it’s a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon or full Marathon, you can 100% build up to it with dedication and hard work.  #running #ukrunningchat #marathon #training #marathontraining #runchat #run #runninggoals

Who’s just done a sub 50 10k tonight then ? 🥳 49min40 👍 Since going back to training, I had not managed a 10k in under 50min. I have come close, but tonight I did it, the first since the Brighton 10k in April 2018. With my 49min05, I made the leaderboard in my category. I finished 8/433 in my age group. It’s good to feel that I’ve still got it. 💪 If my long trail runs are my easy pace runs, then my Tuesday 10k runs need to be my hard runs. That’s why tonight I swapped happy pace for race pace and I loved it. 👍💪 I warmed up beforehand by walking round a couple of streets and mixing walking with running. Then I started strong and kept the running strong. From the start, I could feel my ankles and my calves waking up from last night’s hill training. But after about 5km, I stopped feeling them. 😊 My route isn’t hilly as such but there are low and long inclines one after the other until the one hill towards the end. We’ve hit the point in the conference where I needed some time where I didn’t have to talk to people for a while 😂 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Running 5 miles in 82° wasn’t exactly the most ideal situation BUT I got to be alone for a while, so I’ll take it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Even better: I found a trail and a lake in the middle of an industrial park!
So after 3 weeks of getting back into running and loving every minute I have today started a 4 week programme with the aim of hitting sub 36:00 in 4 weeks and sub 35:00 by August.  I will be completing 4 x sessions a week: 1. Hill runs 2. Intensity 3. Volume 4. Interval  I will post all my sessions on Instagram along with my weekly weights. The risk of getting injured increase if a runners practice a sedentary job so probably have short and weak hamstring, this situation can be aggravated if you also have a hyperlordotic posture (anterior tilt) which brings these muscles in constant tension. Often a hyperlordodic posture is associated with a weak core that does not perform its job properly. For this reason a specific reinforcement of hamstring and all the other core muscles can help in the prevention of this injury. I går havde det umiddelbart en gavnlig effekt på udseendet med en løbetur. I dag virker det mest til, at jeg er gået fra “fint tilpas” til “udskidt æblegrød” 😂. I'll be 27 in 2 months. My life is a whole lot different than I ever imagined it'd be. I spent ages 14-24 bouncing from relationship to relationship. It was typically "long-term*, a year, 3 years, 2 years,  just enough time to plan a future then watch it crumble. I'd put all of my energy into making one person happy that I forgot about anything else. My last serious relationship ended in 2016 and i swore I'd never do it to myself again. I was 24, alone, and had no idea who I was. I had used everyone as a crutch to keep me a float for so long. I spent most of 24 just going through the motions. I had no plan or ambition. I finally picked up my pieces the summer of 2017 and my life has been all about me since that moment. I let go of the weight that guarded me, I found out what truly makes me happy and i ran with it, literally in a sense i guess. Sometimes you have to be selfish, you have to put yourself first and take the absolute best care of yourself. I've continued to date the past 2 years but on my terms. If im not happy I'm not staying. If you don't respect my lifestyle im done. I can honestly say I’m not running to lose weight. Which is a good job because between these 2 pictures there has been 170 miles of running and 2lb weight loss! I run for so many reasons but to get the number on the scales to reduce is not one of them. In the picture on the right I am happier and more confident, I feel fitter and healthier, I’m less moody (my husband can confirm 😂) and my days are so much more productive. Who enjoys running in this heat?  Last week was well spent in my training schedule. Had 3 hard session of 3*3km tempo 🏃‍♂ back to back & few easy 🏃. Still managed to get some solid paces in and I'm happy that my body is continuing to show up. I think my leg workouts are starting to make a difference.  I felt surprisingly strong throughout the Week and my pace is getting faster consistently, it was a very satisfactory week.  All I can do is keep improving. Switzerland Part 2 - Swiss Canyon Trail, c’était la reprise après 3 semaines de break, une belle course, de beaux panoramas notamment au Soliat, point culminant du trail avec sa vue sur le canyon le plus célèbre de Suisse, le Creux du Van. Du plaisir avec un terrain agréable qui m’a changé de la technicité de Maurice 😅 Pareil au niveau de la température, l’humidité, l’air, je me suis senti vraiment à l’aise. Ressenti confirmé sur ma fréquence cardiaque 80% de la course dans le vert/bleu, 20% dans l’orange et 0% dans le rouge.
