If you were one of the people that said to themselves "I think I'll work from the good ol'home office today!", then put on those fluffy slippers, grab a cup of Campbell's chicken noodle soup, and start your day with some good reading. Our friend @runningwriter (aka Noel Paine) has just released a new book chronicling his interactions and interviews with some of the world's best runners! We'll be carrying his new release at our Bank Street store, so come out and show some support for a fellow runner and local talent! The best part of all this is that it's totally 100% work related so you can do all of this guilt free.....right? 👍
Going all natural with the @merrellcanada Vapor Glove. Like the toe shoes, only without the toes and the subsequent need for special toe socks. This, barefoot friends, is a Bank Street special 👌 #barefootshoes#barefootrunning
SNOW DAY! When public schools close, we cancel treatment services. Probably a good idea too. Only 8 AM and there's already a layer of ice covering everything. I about wiped out wearing my heaviest traction boots. So obviously I ran indoors! But that's okay. I had the workout room to myself and started a new Hulu series called New Amsterdam. Pretty good so far! Got a solid run in too 🏃♀️ stay safe today, everyone!!
Ok, so it would be an understatement to say that today was miserably cold, especially this morning ❄. #worst Hope everyone got home safe, and is enjoying a nice cocoa by the fire in the company of your loyal cat/hound. If you were thinking to yourself "Gosh golly, it sure is chilly. I really could use something to keep my hands/ears/face a little bit toastier..." then you should pop by the stores because all of our winter gear is 25% off! We've got Bula toques, New Balance mittens, boots from various brands, and virtually anything you can think of to make your winter life a little bit closer to your best life. #best
Did I hear my insta friends say something about it being cold here in Ontario?!? 🤪 it was only -26 real feel with an extreme cold warning when I ran but it sure reminded me of why I love this sport! The rush, the thrill and the glory when you finish. . . My run yesterday was literally 60 degrees warmer if not more. Today’s run went well. I’m lining up a few races stay tuned. I might surprise you with what I pick. . . What you all have planned?
I had such a fantastic day yesterday at the @nationalrunningshow! . The day started with a spot of parkrun tourism, at the gorgeous @kingsburywaterparkrun. A very scenic, friendly, flat and fast course around some beautiful lakes...unfortunately my watch wouldn't find GPS AGAIN (sort it out please @suunto, my watch is amazingly beautiful but not very functional!!!) and the Strava app on my phone gave up after less than 2 miles, but nonetheless I still did my third quickest parkrun ever! . Next up was the Running Show itself...it was a lot bigger and better than last year, and I had so much fun wandering around chatting to stallholders, entering all of the competitions (of course!) and best of all, watching a very inspiring, humourous and moving talk by @iwanrunner! We even bagged front row seats! (OK, so it was the floor, but still, yey!). . After a spot of retail therapy at @rw__arena and a cheeky @nandosuk, it was back home after an awesome day out!
Guys, I ran on a treadmill and survived 😂 it helped I had a movie that I'm really into to watch. (Beautiful Boy on Amazon. Check it out! Does a fantastic job illustrating addiction). I wanted to test my new shoes in clean and dry climates so forced myself indoors. New shoes feel awesome!! I needed these miles. Was struggling to find some cheer this morning, being reminded of losing Mama today. These miles were for her. We lost her too young to a heart attack. One of the core reasons I run. Also dedicated my miles to Mollie, rocking the #milesformollie tank.
Five miles in 6 below windchill with 18 mph winds all because I hate the treadmill 😂😂 It actually wasn't all that bad. Just had to wear more layers and watch my footing. I took @pixie.runner advice and put vaseline on my cheeks before and didn't get any wind burn! Even though we got five inches of snow last nice, the folks around here did an awesome job having the sidewalks clear! Didn't wear my new shoes. Might bust them out for a short treadmill run tomorrow just to make sure they feel good.
I've always wanted this color of the @brooksrunning Ghost 11 and since @fleetfeetdsm didn't have my size in stock, got to custom order these bad boys 😎 Definitely won't be breaking these in outside today considering we got five inches of snow in parts of the metro.
This month... it’s personal. The VR team are very fortunate to have friends from many walks of life, and in February we are taking the opportunity to honour two of them. Join us for a 10km butterfly Virtual Run and help our beautiful 13 year old friend Maya enjoy life to the fullest as she faces struggles most of us couldn’t even fathom. Maya has been fighting for her life since birth and quite simply, makes broken look beautiful and strong look invincible. 💕 And why not combine or join it with the Tokyo 42.2km Virtual Run that supports Brain Cancer in honour of our friend Steve who is currently in palliative care fighting his last fight against this disease which still has no cure. Registrations open tomorrow so put it in your calendar and don’t miss out! Sign up via our website at www.virtualrunner.com.au/races
Sometimes I run to be fast and sometimes I run to be free. Today was 11 miles of freedom and 3 miles of grit. Long run ✅ ... 14 total miles, and I must admit the last 3 were brutal. But at that point I realized that this is the part of training I promised myself I would embrace, as opposed to just the marathon itself. So I stopped for a sec, switched the FUBU episode of How I Built This (you’ve gotta listen to it, it’s insane how that company got started) to my “level 4 pushes” playlist. I reminded myself that I love a challenge, I love the feeling of pushing through something that seems impossible, and I love some hardcore jams to help me through it. I somehow managed to hold onto my pace and love the run, all the way to mile 14 👊🏻#strydeon
Good morning, all! I have taken a much needed week and couple of days off of...well like everything. It was needed. I didn't run and spent a significant less time on social media. Things were starting to feel like I was doing chores and I didn't like it. So I focused on me, my mental health, my class, and getting into a routine with my new job. You need that sometimes. And lately I seem to be wide awake at 4am so I figured why not make that time productive and become a morning runner! Plus it started to snow lightly during that run. Thanks, mother nature. I needed that. ❤❄
