It's friiiiidaaaay, the time goes by so fast, I wanted to run earlier in the warm sun today, unfortunately it wasn't possible, but before sunset I shutdown the laptop and put warm cloth on. Oha, the winter is finally coming. #laufwundr wishes you all a great weekend!
RUNNING IS SO MENTAL. 🧠 You have to get out of your head if you want to reach your full potential. 🙌🏻 Can I tell you a fun story? Our older boys are training for a Thanksgiving trail 5K. We’ve been encouraging them to run outside together whenever possible and yesterday they had 3 fast miles to do. I got them set up with my @garminfitness watch and asked them what pace they were aiming for. “Maybe 10:00 per mile?” they answered. Knowing their 5K and 10K PRs, I encouraged them to aim for 9:30-9:40 as their fast pace and they agreed they could probably try that. I could tell they were in their heads and needed a push to get past the mental block. Off they went, and when they returned, they were grinning from ear to ear. “Guess what we did, Mom!” They proceeded to show me their splits on the watch: 9:56 (uphill), 9:17, 8:09!!! 🔥 That 8:09 was a 1-mile PR for the 10yo and just 2 seconds slower than the 12yo’s PR! At the end of a 3-mile run! They overcame that mental barrier and crushed their own expectations - and YOU CAN, TOO! 👊🏻 I had to give myself the same pep talk this morning as I headed out for the first fast miles I’ve done since Marine Corps. He/she will be happy to walk you through. Have the trainer train you for a good week so you get familiar with all the exercises. You can look them up on YouTube as well. • What exercises to lose fat? A combination of cardio and weights, with lots of protein, and a caloric deficit. For a beginner, simply switching to a healthier lifestyle to kickstart your fat loss. • What exercises to build muscle? Strictly weights. And again, because you are a beginner, progress will come fast. Capitalize on it by eating lots of protein and calories! • How many times per week do you train? As many times as it takes to hit every muscle group. It will depend on the split. If you follow push-pull-leg, then train 3 times with 4 rest days. If you do chest, back, arms, shoulders, & legs, that's 5 days with 2 rest days. You can even split arms and include triceps with chest and biceps with back, so now you have chest & triceps, back & biceps, shoulders, and legs.
