Some heavy squats yesterday. It was build to a heavy 4x2.2.2 with 15 sec rest between. I ended with 385 for the complex... which felt awesome! #aweful #mylegs
Patience is the name of the game. Anything worth having doesn’t happen overnight. Picture on the left 135 lbs I am 5’10” Tennis player who trained twice a day and ate whatever I wanted 🤷🏼‍♀️ no lifting. Fast forward to the picture on the right and 2 @rpstrength cuts I am 149 lbs of pure muscle 😉💪🏻 there is no magic pill, results don’t happen overnight, just hard work and dedication. First day in 5 weeks working out! Hit up the weight room for legs (machines and body weight are my friend 😉) and abs. Since I can't grip with my right hand (can't make a fist, loss of ROM, 2 weeks until the break is fully healed, nerve healing etc), I had to go lighter on the weights - but at least I am able now to get in & get myself ready for jumping back into #crossfit in (hopefully!) a few weeks. . Although inverted leg press was 150#, 12 reps, 4 sets...so I'll call that a decent weight 😉. Leg extension/curl was horrible at 60/65# 🙈 but once I feel like I need my right hand for stability, it's too heavy so that was the magic number. But let's just say that it must've been a good workout because after a 5 week hiatus, my legs are going to be sore tomorrow! . Trying to balance muscle loss/weight gain has been a challenge. I definitely don't feel as defined... I've been at around 120/121# on maintenance for a couple months then I gained about 3lbs the first 2 weeks to 124#. Got my act together & started focusing on #rpstrength NTD (So 5 meals a day instead of 6, less carbs & fat) and now I'm down to about 118# 🙈 I'm trying to gain muscle over time to 125/130# (heck maybe even 135#!) on my 5'5" frame, so I'm a little choked I'm below 120# now... I know once I'm back at it it'll come back quickly, (I mean I've done it 3 times already with pregnancies & gotten stronger each time!). Cut Update: Officially started Week 4 of my cut! I’m down just over 4lbs since I’ve started. (I personally consider the first 4-5lbs of weight loss poop and water weight, but it’s a good start.) Started at 131lbs, currently right over 126lbs. I don’t have a certain weight or body fat % I wanna hit, just wanna cut some lbs before I begin my bulk. . Why am I losing weight just to gain it back? Although I didn’t look like it, I was at a higher body fat %. Often, starting a bulk at a higher body fat % will result in more fat gain during the bulk, but dropping some lbs prior to a bulk can help to put you in a good position for a bulk (which is what I’m doing). . What changes have I made? - Literally, all I’ve done is eat cleaner. Before I was doing IIFYM, intuitive eating, flexible dieting—basically whatever the heck I wanted. 😆 - Now, I’m just making sure to make healthier choices instead of hot Cheetos everyday..... 🙃 - Macros & calories for the first three weeks have been kept the same bc I’ve been seeing progress each week meaning decreasing calories and macros anymore would be unnecessary. - Didn’t do any cardio the first three weeks and focused solely on getting my nutrition back in tune. Will start doing small amounts (15-20 minutes of LISS) this week. - Drinking more water . As always: nutrition is key to fueling ANY fitness goal. I literally didn’t do any cardio the first three weeks and dropped over 4lbs. Don’t over complicate weight loss, it’s quite simple, just need to stay on track. 👌🏼 . Abs are nice, but I’m stoked for my bulking phase to gain some solid muscle. 💪🏼💪🏼 So don’t get too used to the abs—they won’t be hanging out for long. 😉 . Are you cutting or bulking right now? Mostly upper body training day with some barbell hip thrusters added at the end. Did 6x5 sets of strict log press (100), 4x10 Z press with axle bar (75lbs)  DB work, tons of face pulls, tricep work and 3x12 banded hip thrusters with 185lbs. Credit to: @trapsofanangrybear ・・・ Before the new weight classes were release, I joked that my worst case scenario would be 59 and 65.  They released a 59 and 64.  I have always been a light 63, my typical official weigh in for National meets is 61.5, after food and coffee.  It’s hard to be that small, competing against girls who are training around 65 and cutting down for the meet.  I always look around at introductions and wonder how I’m in the same weight class with girls who I feel like are double my size. # I competed as a 58 for 6 months in 2016.  The cut was hard, I looked rough, I felt even worse, and I was miserable.  We made the decision to never again lift as a 58, and left it be.  After some convincing this summer, my coach and I made the decision to test run a cut to 59 for a fall meet, and if I felt okay, we could compete there.  # I’m a week out from the meet, but this time has been night and day from last time.  I got a DEXA today and the results showed exactly what my pictures also show (May 2016, 58 kg left/ Oct 2018, 59kg right, same shorts total coincidence, I swear). Although I’m back towards the lightest I’ve been, I actually have the most muscle mass I’ve had from my last two DEXA scans (one was at my maintenance weight, and one was at the end of my most recent mass). It’s comforting to know that the work I’ve put in over the last 2.5 years @lilyweightlifting and with @rpstrength is paying off and building a stronger body (and with the help of @jamesfryernmt a less injured body as well).
