Lychee season is over, and all too soon! But now's the time to start planning for next year. Pruning our trees sends a message that it’s time for a successional growth to happen, and allows greater abundance. Of course, the cycle does go on without us, but being in tune helps us understand the health and potential in each tree.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #regenerativefarming#regenerativeagriculture#nswfarming#organicfarm
We've been a bit quiet on social media lately. We'll blame Amy's ski weekends and now the 20+ degree weather. Finally getting longer days to clear land, prep beds, and plant! Here's a photo of 2 of our hens enjoying a cooling dust bath, to make up for our silence.
Lambing season is here! Which means spring, and busy season, has officially begun. So far we’ve had 8 of our 26 ewes give birth, and our lamb flock is up to 16 babies. The first few days of life are crucial for bonding between mother and lamb. Mom’s identify their babies through scent, and their bond is made stronger through nursing, nuzzling, and lots of quality time together. Welcome to the farm, little ones! #yayspring#lambingseason#apricotlanefarms#biggestlittlefarm
🌱🌳🌳Avocado forest tour on our farm in central Mexico. We have around 200 avocado trees growing right here. We like to start our own trees, from the seeds we save. There are a few older trees that were here before us, but most of the trees you see, we planted only 2-4 years ago. We harvest these trees about three times per year, each year receiving a higher yield. We have other fruit trees and chiles planted amoung the avocados to minimize the issues that come with monoculture farming. We have also been careful to leave many of the older native trees standing (many avocado farmers simply slash and burn everything and plant only avocado trees). In one of the video clips you can see our corn field sprawling out below the avocados, which are planted on the hillside climbing up from the valley floor. In nature's untouched version of this landscape plan, the decaying plant material and leaf litter from the sloped forest, washes down to fertilize the field during the torrential rains that come with wet season (July-Sept), leaving fertile soil ready for the food growing that has taken place here for hundreds of years. We have tried to mimic this design as much as possible, while still being able to make a living farming avocados, aka Green Gold! . .
Okay y'all. Those of you who know me know that I am addicted and obsessed with @lushcosmetics but I don't ever really talk about WHY I'm so in love with them. Just to tell you a few of the endless wonderful things this company does; they collect plastic waste from the ocean and recycle it and use it as packaging for their products, they're providing reforestation and regenerative farming in several countries, they don't budge or ever veer away from making sure their ingredients are ethically sourced and make sure they're using sustainable ingredients, and in turn creating long term jobs and just overall healing of comminutes around the world. Not to mention they only use the FRESHEST ingredients and all of their products are HANDMADE! I could go on for DAYS about how amazing this company and their values are, it's something that I am so incredibly passionate about. I've wanted to change the world since I was a little girl and this company is doing that in so many ways. If you haven't ever looked into this company before, please please do so. It's a wonderful company with wonderful products! 😍🛀🌈🌎🙌 #lushcosmetics#lushie#lushlife#lush#lushlabs#lushbathbomb#lushbubblebar#bath#shower#cosmetics#fresh#sustainability#ethicalsourcing#changetheworld#regenerativefarming#giveback#recycle
Howdy y’all! We’ve had a lot of people reach out to ask about our big black tarps. What do they do? What are they for? Silage tarps are a technique used in no-till farming. First we shred our cover crops, making a fine, green manure. Then by covering them, not only do we decompose the material at a faster rate - we also prevent it from blowing away in our West Texas winds 💨💨💨 Keeping what comes from the soil and making use of it to build our soil food web. #regenerativefarming#covercrops#notill#soilhealth#soilfoodweb#ogallalaaquifer#waterconservation
Take advantage of the final crisp days of Winter to make a braise! Pictured is a beef braise with tomatoes. In braising beef, an acidic ingredient, such as citrus or tomato juice, vinegar or wine, is a must: it helps to break down the protein and rounds out the flavor. The advantages of slow-cooking are that leaner cuts of meat can be used at lower temperatures and no additional fat needs to be added. #thebelcampoway
This bouquet goes out to all our regional farmers waiting on the ground to thaw so their bountiful seasons can begin! Learning patience is a big task on the farm and working with and around the weather and climate is a forever task. Year after year is different and that’s what some of our farmers like the most about their work—that no two days are the same! Nature, the weather, and seasonal rhythms often guide us how and when to do the jobs we need to do. We are all in it together and we hope to spread a little sunshine today with one of our sunflower bouquets 🌻
If you are starting seeds indoors right now, I hope they are doing well and your cats are not eating them like they are trying to do with mine! _ My shop is updated with Grow Your Own Natural Dye Garden kits so if you are excited about starting a dye garden grab one before they sell out. 🌿🌿🌿
A sneak peek at some icon development I've been working on for one of my clients in the agri-science sector. Martin is a brilliant scientist and his work is extremely important in the current ecological climate of large scale food production and sustainable farming. There's no other word to describe his products but ground-breaking.Every time I hear more about his product development it blows my mind!! Because of the nature of his products, some considerations need to be made for a mark that is clear and recognisable at very small sizes (say on a tablet or capsule). The product range also incorporates a sub-branding system (similar how Amazon.com umbrellas into AmazonPrime, AmazonKindle, AmazonEcho..) so we've been working away on ironing out a cohesive feel across the various components of the brand. I can't reveal too much more right now, but keep your eyes peeled for updates and more about Martin and his business.

Changing the world one small farm at a time! This permaculture farm is doing big things! @emas.hitam.indonesia means #blackgold in Bahasa Indonesia. This amazing group is making a huge difference on Bali! They practice almost every regenerative method known...huglekulture, worm farms, cover cropping, crop rotation, seed saving, compost, deep soil building, mulching, chipping, water saving and crop rotation. They are doing test gardens on different theories/methods of Fukuoka, Holzer hugel mounds and traditional Bali style. They are gathering organic waste from local temples, hotels, and the local villages for their compost/soil building. The waste will be transformed into beautiful compost which they will then give back to other local farmers and their own farm to produce organic food. This food will then be sold back to the hotels and restaurants from the small farmers using their soil. This wonderful closed loop practice teaches how being resourceful can benefit the whole community. They have 2 types of chippers for different sized materials, and everything is chipped and mulched! At Emas Hitam they are always collecting seeds to be grown and climatized to the region. Everything in the garden is edible, the flowers, trees, fruits and foods!! They will be participating in the Ubud Food Festival coming soon! One of our favorite things was the banana compost circles. A circle of banana trees with a huge compost mound in the center. The banana trees feed on the compost and add a sheltered environment and structure for compost to thrive🙏🏽 Emas Hitam, we want to thank you for being such gracious hosts and being so filled with intention in inspiration! We want to support you in ever way we can✊🏽 Give them a follow and show them some love fam💕 They are dedicated to learning and sharing!! Wish we had more time to spend together.... Next time 👌🏽#DemPure #livingsoil#permaculturebali#compost#emashitam#regenerativefarming
The Spring Equinox and a Full Supermoon grace us this Wednesday, March 20. 🌷🌕🌻 - Use this time to renew as we transition from winter to spring. The days are becoming longer. The flowers are blooming. The butterflies are migrating. Look back at what you’ve accomplished through winter and set your sights on new goals for Spring. Clean out your closest. Unpack your spring wardrobe. Spend time in nature (respectfully honoring the flora & fauna). We’re sipping on a homemade herbal Oxymel (apple cider vinegar + honey that we infused with dandelion, nettle leaf, and astragalus) to support digestion and immunity during the seasonal change from winter to spring. Adding NOVA under the tongue daily to keep us in balance. 🌱✨ - #springequinox#planetarywonderland
THE PLANTS WANT US TO HEAL 🌱 Eating all the spring time greens right now to fuel and balance my body during the transition of the seasons 🙏🏼 Chickweed, rosemary, sage, dandelion greens, radish flowers, & wild geranium
Throwback to our 100% homegrown veggie boxes last year. Everyone who received a box of our veggies paid months in advance for an entire season. That made it possible for us to build a garden from scratch and grow delicious fresh food with no waste. All in a way that didn’t disturb the soil structure and left the land better than we found it. Celebrating autumn/winter subtropical abundance and our customers who made this possible 😍 #huntersgarden#workingwithnature#communitysupportedagriculture#plasticfree#beyondorganic#nodiggardening
Tap for sound - I finished editing this brand video for @begavalleyeggs over the weekend and I can't tell you how excited I've been to share it! Lyndal, Dan and Leo are farming regeneratively, which means they put more back into the earth/their soil than they take out. They are real, they care about the land as much as they do about creating a business that sustains their family and I think it's important to get this balance right to create businesses that are sustainable on both fronts. ⠀ The shoot day started early, I pulled into Dan and Lyndel's drive just before the sun had risen. The sky was black and full of stars and I had the usual excited/nervous feeling in my tummy before a full day's shoot. Once the sky started to glow with light we dashed into the field to begin shooting. I was running through knee-deep lush green grass that was wet with dew trying to get myself in the right position for sunrise. The sky turned an incredible shade of pink, the chickens were clucking and big strips of low cloud hung low to the hills surrounding. I stood there for a tiny moment looking at the breathtaking view, camera in hand thinking 'I've got the best job!'.⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #foodstories#foodvideos#regenerativefarming#begavalley#canberravideography#dslrvideos#begavideography#embracingaslowerlife#folkandstory#thesincerestoryteller#creativelife#socialmediacontent#contentcreator#contentcreation #socialmediaphotographycanberra #chasingthelight
Our greenhouses are getting prepped and ready for spring planting. We hand till our beds to make sure the soil is only disrupted enough to come alive. It sure does take a lot longer but the results are worth it. Happy soil= healthy plants. The sun is shining, music playing, and snow is melting. #sodakgrown#regenerativefarming#soilhealth#cherryrockfarms#springwatch
Today’s #meatcrushmonday goes to @chefdanielagerson for her beautiful pasta bolognese with Belcampo grass-fed and finished beef. Be sure to follow her for vibrant food photography featuring healthy, seasonal ingredients! #thebelcampoway
Nearly 3,000 onions and leeks digging this springtime weather. Are you ready for the winter to officially be over? We certainly are. Bring on the heat!! Thanks to @walkerfarmvt for watching over and tending our starts in their heated greenhouse!
