As more and more time passes by and I get closer to graduation I think about the different ways I can create real life in the moment change. I love being able to think things through, write papers, spread word, and observe, BUT I get an overwhelming sense of wanting to do some real life development work. I thought about creating my own local organization focusing on reducing food waste and promoting food security in our schools. And I’ve created a list of different things that I would like to do since I’m sooo over the moon passionate about topics around education, food and issues around waste. And I guess this is me putting out my goals into the universe and seeing what I’ll be able to accomplish.

Reason FOUR to be concern - a 1992 Russian study found that frequencies in the range 53-78 GHz ( which 5G proposes to use) impacted the heart rate variability in rats. Moreover, they found heart rate changes in frogs for which are exposed to MMWs. [Credit : Electricsense] #protect
(2/3) Regram from @putput.dk . . Climate change: Greenland ice sheet melting faster than at any time in last 400 years, researchers warn. By Tim Wyatt @the.independent ⠀⠀ (...) The Greenland ice sheet is a mile-thick layer of frozen water which melts back into liquid on the surface of the sheet during warm summer days. Meltwater then either runs off the sheet into the ocean, pushing up sea levels worldwide, or it refreezes, forming layers of densely packed ice over time. The scientists running the study used a drill longer than a traffic light pole to extract ice cores from the ice sheet itself, to examine what kind of melting took place as far back as the 17th century. This method provides much deeper historical evidence for how much melting is caused by climate change than the normal satellite images, which only date back to the 1970s. ⠀⠀ Matt Osman, a graduate student who also worked on the study, said: “We have had a sense that there’s been a great deal of melting in recent decades, but we previously had no basis for comparison with melt rates going further back in time. “By sampling ice, we were able to extend the satellite data by a factor of ten and get a clearer picture of just how extremely unusual melting has been in recent decades compared to the past.” And the results show that even small amounts of additional warming could cause a huge spike in ice sheet melting. Dr Das said this underlined how sensitive the Arctic ice was to climate change. . . . 👉🏻 Next post . . . #environment#green#eco#sustainability#ecofriendly#planetorplastic#plasticfree#reuse#reduce#upcycle#plasticpollution#zerowaste#noplastic#nowaste#lessplastic#plasticwaste#plasticfree#passonplastic#nomoreplastic#environment#saveouroceans#plasticpollutes#noplanetb#bethechange#savetheplanet#saynotoplastic#pollution#repost
(1/3) Regram from @organicamagazine 📸: @gladyssoh . . Climate change: Greenland ice sheet melting faster than at any time in last 400 years, researchers warn. By Tim Wyatt @the.independent ⠀⠀ Greenland’s ice sheets are melting faster than at any time in the last 400 years, researchers have warned. A new study has found the Greenland melt is pushing up sea levels worldwide and is caused by global warming. The lead scientist on the paper, Dr Luke Trusel, said: “Melting of the Greenland ice sheet has gone into overdrive. “As a result, Greenland melt is adding to sea level more than any time during the last three-and-a-half centuries, if not thousands of years. “And increasing melt began around the same time as we started altering the atmosphere in the mid-1800s. ⠀⠀ Dr Trusel’s co-author, Dr Sarah Das, said that from a historical perspective “today’s melt rates are off the charts”.Compared to the start of the industrial era, 50 per cent more ice sheet meltwater is running off Greenland and into the Arctic Ocean today, she said. There has been a 30 per cent increase since the 20th century alone. “Rather than increasing steadily as the climate warms, Greenland will melt increasingly more and more for every degree of warming,” Dr Trusel said. “The melting and sea level rise we’ve observed already will be dwarfed by what may be expected in the future as the climate continues to warm.” . . . 👉🏻 Next post . . . #environment#green#eco#sustainability#ecofriendly#planetorplastic#plasticfree#reuse#reduce#upcycle#plasticpollution#zerowaste#noplastic#nowaste#lessplastic#plasticwaste#plasticfree#passonplastic#nomoreplastic#environment#saveouroceans#plasticpollutes#noplanetb#bethechange#savetheplanet#saynotoplastic#pollution#repost
It takes hundreds of years before a plastic product has completely disappeared. And, according to some researchers, even after it has disappeared there still remain permanent traces of chemicals at the place where the product had been laying. #10yearchallenge Credits to: @ecoretosc Posted @withrepost • @ecoretosc #10yearsagochallenge #plastic ¿sin diferencias? claro, el plástico tarda en degradarse +400 años. My @adidas parleys got to meet the plastic bottle they are made of. Each pair of shoes reuses 11 plastic bottles from the ocean. Was surprised to see so much trash already midday at this state beach which is cleaned daily. Food for thought: At least 8 million tons of plastic enters the ocean each year and there is more microplastic in the ocean than there are stars in the Milky Way. The average US citizen consumes 167 plastic water bottles a year and only 25% of them get recycled. If you live in a place where you are lucky enough to have clean drinking water out of the tap, please say no to single use water bottles and carry your own bottle. One of the easiest green switches!
Goodbye disposable make-up pads! My dear friend @girlonthemooncrochet made me these beautiful crocheted ones. I now use @drbronner unscented bar soap with these to remove my make-up. I also found this cute container to store them in at @valuevillage_thrift
You can call me and my bf professional dumpster divers. 🙆🏽♀️ Just kidding... but we did find this beauty by the dumpster in my condo. Checked if it works and it does! Now that I have a little doggo 🐶, there fur everywhere. My old vacuum was bulky and required bags (which creates unnecessary waste and I was about to find something else. With law of attraction we found this one! Just a wipe down and it’s ready to be used. . With the market today, it so easy to something new because it’s accessible, cheap and always better than last weeks model. Which is dangerous considering everything ends up in our landfill 😭. So please try either to donate, resell or BUNZ (@bunz_official) your items!

I’m loving the way reusable glass jars make your kitchen look stylish, organized, and save money. Most importantly it eliminates single use plastic packaging and saves you money buying in bulk. Getting everything in bulk isn’t always a money saver, but if I can pay the same price for something AND look super cool WHILE saving the world then I’ve earned my over priced glass of kombucha for the day🍹#planbplanet

Do you know what you can recycle? The City of Akron recently decided to stop accepting glass in your bin. With plastic lingering in every corner of the earth, glass is the best option, as very little waste is produced in recycling glass and it can be used to produce the same product over and over. A good alternative is to reuse the glass jars you have. Use them instead of plastic containers to take food to work or to store the soup you made. In this month’s @thedevilstrip, Noor Hindi breaks down what the city is currently accepting, and some big no-nos. Remember that the items in your bin need to be cleaned of all food matter and you can’t just throw in whatever you want. Check out the January issue for all the details. If you have questions about where to take other items, Earth911.com will direct you to different centers based on your location and give more information on how to recycle and if things are recyclable.

Day 3 of the #simplifyin5 challenge is SIMPLIFY YOUR SPENDING. (for clothing items) Trying to be a minimalist has helped me consolidate the things I own and the way I shop for clothes in the past four years. I was never one to hit the mall and shop the latest trends. I like to be more comfortable then fashionable. As a homeschooling mom I want items I can throw together and look put together. I find myself on the go more and more lately either to the service group, meeting, library, co-op, or somewhere that other humans will be. I don't bring in any item that I don't love or feel great in. Thrift shopping is a shot in the dark at times but once in a while I find pieces I love. I'm also not opposed to hand me downs or clothes sharing. I try to repair any items that snag or tear. I also try to avoid fast fashion, quality over quantity. So you might be thinking why is she showing me a pic of her junk drawer and clothes? 🤔 Well stick with me for a sec. This all started when someone called me a hoarder! I was like wtf? I have a busy life, busy boys and this is just a house that gets lived in as a home. I started to get anxious about cleaning all the time and “tidying”. 🤨 However, when a new show in Jan came out on Netflix called “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo”, I thought why not - (I had already read the book last year - I’m visual obviously 🙄). This adorable little Japanese woman full of gratitude and clarity and changed my world! Yep watching a tv series on cleaning that needs an interpreter! 🤦🏼♀️ Anyway, she shows you how to clean out your spaces rather than just tidying them. Only keep what “sparks joy”. I know it sounds silly but guys when you have a basis to keep something, put it in your hands and feel whether it sparks joy - there is a lot of things to get rid of! 💩 Clothes were the biggest revolution for me. She shows how to fold in thirds everything from under wear to hoodies. The crazy part is the thoughts you have going through the process. Your patterns are revealed of what you are attracted to for colours, patterns and style. Are the clothes that I choose attracting the people I want in my life, why do I buy the clothes I do?, on sale, good deal, or because they spark joy? 👱🏻♀️ Last night, for the first time, it didn’t take forever to get ready for an event because my closet only had clothes that I actually love to wear! Who knew a tidying up show could have such a deep impact. We are earlier to things because we aren’t searching for things through the house last minute. We come home to a cleaner house because everything went away when we were done with it (ok we are still working on this one! ☝🏻🤷🏼♀️) ✨ Her other participants see all kinds of positive side effects. Now everything that is worth keeping has a
Sos activ@ y responsable, sos #muygreenish . . . #estilodevidasaludable
