What diet do I follow on vacation? — The real answer: I don’t. —- I’m in the health and fitness game for the long haul so I focus on fueling my body with foods that will make my body and soul feel good. — BUT also vacations are a time to enjoy yourself and make memories. — Are there definitely days when candy or ice cream turns into a meal? Yup. Are there days that I eat a salad for a meal? Yup. It’s all about finding balance and what works best for you. — For me balance means at least moving my body on vacation x chugging some water. The rest will play out once I get back into my routine. —- What does balance on vacation mean to you?

. There are actual days where I don’t feel like doing anything. All I want to do is hang out at home with my little guy and drink black tea all day. • Then I remind myself that life begins OUTSIDE of my comfort zone, and that I am on a crusade, and a big part of all of that is getting out of the house and talking to people. So I pack up my little human in the car and off we go to venture in to the world. • Currently I am sitting in the parking lot of the Fish Creek Library while Micah snoozes in his car seat, because he didn’t really nap this morning and before we go to conquer the world he needs his beauty sleep • While I’m sitting here mentally preparing myself to walk through the library doors and smile at everyone that I pass by I’m going through my list of gratitude. I am by far the most grateful to be a mother, and to be a woman who is really stepping in to her own power. Independent of a man and independent of the victim mentality that society tells me I should occupy. • I have stories that would make your blood run cold, I have stories rooted in so much pain that it would bring tears to your eyes, I have stories that paint me as a victim. Instead, I choose to occupy a space of wholesomeness, love, truth, and growth. • I am grateful for my pain, I am grateful for the chance to grow and to live life every day outside of my comfort zone. I am grateful to be a mother and to have an opportunity to change my legacy. I am grateful to be surrounded by unconditional love and support as I grow through some of the most painful shit a person has to grow through. #realtalk: When @MichelobULTRA asked me to speak on a panel about nutrition, I wanted to say NO. The idea of speaking in front of people on a topic that I'm not necessarily certified in... I was terrified. I immediately thought of all the ways I would fail, all the ways people would look at me and call me a phony. It took me a while to warm up to the idea that while I may not be a registered dietician or a certified nutritionist, my perspective, my opinions, and my experiences as an athlete do have value. And if my experiences can resonate with just ONE person out there who may also be struggling with nutrition and athletic performance and body issues... then it's worth it. So often, we immediately jump to the worst conclusion and sell ourselves short. It's practically muscle memory to think of all the ways in which we're not good enough. Because if we stop ourselves from even trying, then we won't have to deal with the pain of failing... right? Hard work beats talent that doesn't work hard. Change in any area of your life can be difficult! We all have growing pains and change is one of them. The small sacrifices in the beginning will be worth it in the end! So thankful I didn't listen to the voices that told me working from home wouldn’t work. I use to stress about the hours I had to put in because that is what I thought I had to do.
