The biggest lie in Public Relations is the idea that you need to have this ultra outgoing, bubbly, confident, well-spoken personality to succeed in the industry. . Which in 2018 could not be further from the truth. So in saying that, throw the clichés "Fake it 'til you make it" and "Step out of your comfort zone" in the garbage because that is what they are. . Make no mistake; the extrovert is an essential part of any PR team, but the introvert plays a pivotal role. . Introverts are analysts; we think before we speak and are impeccable listeners. Introverts also tend to be the calm in a crisis; responsive rather than reactive, much to the regard of the traits aforementioned. . Attention to detail, critical thinking, preparedness and quality over quantity is quintessential to the introvert. . Essentially, few careers better fit or necessitate the Introvert, than Public Relations.
