Happy Monday! Quick question: Has a conversation already been had regarding the differing experiences within public librarianship? I mean a real one. There are a lot things I don’t talk about because being a librarian is my happy place - I focus on the good! But the reality is, depending on what community you work in, some days you may not feel like you work in a library at all. I’ve worked in over (20) different library locations (across 3 different systems) for differing periods (some for days, weeks, months and a couple years) and I’ve seen librarians, “library” in many different ways... but do we really think about how different our experiences are? The differing needs and demands? Even within our own systems? Do we talk openly about it and share stories? Should we be? 🤷🏾♀️ I can think of so many differences between Librarian A and Librarian B because I’ve been both. Then there’s Librarian C who manages the As and Bs... it goes on and gets deeper. 👀 I have so many thoughts, questions, comments and concerns about this topic. I’ve even strongly considered going back to school to research the inequities within public libraries. However, we need to acknowledge those librarians/library staff working and managing challenging environments while still serving the needs of their communities - SEE them. Something to think about... 📚 . #librarians ▫️ . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #blackandbooked#library#publiclibrary#librarian#librarianlife#librariansofinstagram#book#librariesofinstagram#librarylove#bookish#bookstagram#booklove#booklover#reader#readersofinstagram#bibliophile#bookstagram#librarytime#libraryofbookstagram
🌞 QOTD: Would you rather live in constant winter or constant summer? I'm totally loving this warm June weather we're having and I can't wait for the monsoon rains to come. I love a good snowstorm but too much snow gets exhausting for me after a little while. Post to and follow #readallthepoems so we can add more poetry to bookstagram!

OLD INTERNET • 📚 Revisited the original “internet” where hours were spent just to gather new information and confirm data. Remembering my university years when photocopying was banned and I had to write down every word and line I needed to use for papers and reports 😱 Who else can relate with this? 🙋🏻♀️ . . . . . #singapore#exploresingapore#publiclibrary#library
Acabem de deixar a l’expositor de l’entrada de #biblioteca una #novetat molt llaminera. Es tracta de “Debut”, el primer llibre de la cantautora Christina Rosenvinge que enguany forma part de la programació del festival @tempogirona
My next #summerreading2019 book! I just finished #theravenboys last night after commencement and I'm waiting for number 2 to come to my library. CCRLS has an amazing lending system, and when I wait I love to brows the New section of the teen section. BUT! I actually found this one in the children's kit section while helping my little sister in law get set up for the summer reading program.
Surrey City Centre Library, Surrey BC, Canada 📐: Bing Thom Architects, 2011 🌳: Which seats do you tend to prefer when working in the library? Hidden in the stacks, in a study carrel, on a shared table, in a large reading room...? My preference is for seats with a view, I like the ability to take breaks and see life around me. . Don’t be fooled by the trees and tall grass, the view from the windows of the Surrey City Center Library near Vancouver BC is very much an urban one. Nevertheless, the architect was careful to surround the building with soothing touches of green. . 📷: Canon 5D Mk.II + Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 #libraryarchitecture#library#libraryexterior#publiclibrary#surreycitycentrelibrary#surreylibrary#bingthomarchitects#bingthom#surreybc#sigma1224#conlib_ca #conlib_contemporary @surreylibraries
Well, lookie here, Alaskans! This is my hometown #publiclibrary#kaneohepubliclibrary and they have some steps from the parking lot that they are currently painting with iconic titles. Looks like AK got a mention with #twooldwomen ! With only about 20 steps total, this is quite the honor! #librarylife
~Short Book Review~ ✦ I’ll start by saying that I struggled to get into this book. I hard a hard time clicking with Eleanor. But by page 88 I finally began to connect with the book. ✦ Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine... She’s socially awkward, she’s hard working, she’s brutally honest. She has no friends and she lives alone. But she’s fine... completely fine... at least that’s what she thinks ✦ Through this book she slowly starts to experience life differently. She begins to see things that she’s been missing. What it’s like to have friends and what it’s like to have people care about you. And she earns that maybe she’s not as fine as she thought. ✦ I absolutely loved this book. I think many of us experience some of things that Eleanor also goes through. I rate this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars. ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ #books#bookstagram#booklover#instabook#bibliophile#bookworm#ilovebooks#bookaholic#bookphotography#reading#library#publiclibrary#librarybook#review#love
