Thanks Maria and Mine for your company, help and creative stories on our instagram account during our takeover! #repost @travelmacchiato (@get_repost) ・・・ TAKEOVER of @proyectococuyo. Carlos and Ana: a adorable artist couple dedicated their life to make coffee. . They live in Colombia and took over a coffee plantation in the fourth generation in one of the oldest coffee regions of Colombia. Besides running a coffee plantation and establishing their own specialty coffee brand Cocuyo @proyectococuyo , they have even more skills. Ana and Carlos are artist who used to live in metropoles like Sao Paulo or Bogotá. . Coffee itself is for us sometimes a form of art, so it is logical that these two are prone to create fantastic beans. Every coffee fruit and bean is controlled and hand picked and sorted by @proyectococuyo. Since Carlos comes from a coffee family he got a lot of old and traditional skills from his grandparents and his parents. On this plantation they don’t use pesticides or similar additives. Additionally they decided not to sell all their production to the Colombian Coffee Federation since they have their own idea to create an individual coffee experience from planting the coffee bean till the roasting. We are lucky to stay with them during two weeks of harvest season and are amazed by their personality and their coffee. . We will keep you updated with daily stories in a #takeover of their Instagram account @proyectococuyo . #travelmacchiato #proyectococuyo #colombia #finca #coffee #coffeetime #kaffee #fromseedtocup #colombiacoffee #shadegrowncoffee #smallbatchcoffee #specialtycoffee #thirdwavecoffee #coffeelove #coffeelifestyle #coffeegram #arabicacoffee #origintrip #coffeeorigin #cundinamarca #coffeeroasters #coffeehouse #tradition #art
Perfection // While in Amsterdam the best of the best were meeting we were busy picking and processing coffee cherries. While doing that we understood the perfection of each berry. . It is a very long way from the coffee blossom to the cherry. The maintenance of the coffee is a lot of work and needs a lot of experience and knowledge. On the Finca Cocuyo we don’t use any artificial chemicals, no pesticides or other additives to increase the harvest or to „protect“ the leaves and plants from natural enemies. We think this is great work. Even this year they did not use any fertiliser which means a decrease in harvest but helps the nature to help itself. It is an impressive work wich is done here. . All of these berries shown on this picture are hand picked and sorted. They show the common ripe red berries, the ripe Amarillo berries (ripe yellow cherries) and the ripe pink berries which is close of the family of the Colombian „Pink Bourbon“. Additionally the different unripe green, yellow and orange beans are chosen for this OCD photoshoot. . You ask yourself how long it would take to arrange and align this berries? Ask @hairwmn: She said it took 90 minutes to find the perfect composition. . If you want to see more of the finca Cocuyo follow @proyectococuyo. In the moment we do a takeover of their instagram account so don’t miss the stories which we upload daily! . //TAKEOVER// These are Maria and Mine. Together they are @travelmacchiato and are doing the first #takeover of our Instagram account! Both have their origins in Germany 🇩🇪 and Turkey 🇹🇷 and are great coffeeholics ☕️☕️. . Both decided to quit their jobs and to travel the world to not just find the best coffee but to learn more about coffee, coffee culture and coffee origins. They where guests on several farms in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Cuba and enjoyed the World Barista Championship in Seoul 2017. . Since more than one year they started their journey and are now in our finca. For two weeks they will stay with us and learn from the scretch how to harvest and process coffee. Since we are a family farm they have the chance to see different processing methods. Honey, semiwashed or fully washed: We do it all by hand and bean by bean. . They will open a pop-up coffee shop in #hannover, Germany this winter. But first they have to finish their travels. . Backflash - We on cloud nine To have the chance to travel the world and to follow your dreams means for us to be ON CLOUD NINE. Everyday we remember ourselves that this is a great treasure and that we should use our free time wisely. Since we quit our jobs more than one year ago we never stoped working. The only difference is that we are working now for us, with us and on us. The main goal is to become a better us which can mean to even work harder as in our 40-60 h work-life-not-balance. . Here you see us after a good dose of caffeine and a two weeks intense Muay Thai training. We were and are ON CLOUD NINE. After finishing our Muay Thai training in Chiang Mai we decided to do what we love to do: coffee hopping. The Baristro (@thebaristro) in Thailand is one of the most amazing coffee places we ever visited. The coffee is extraordinary and the interior design is unique. (Photos of the coffee shop you will see as soon we have a little bit more time.) . Now we are in Colombia were we have the chance to volunteer on a family coffee plantation in 3rd generation. Today we picked only the ripest beans (dark red and the „Amarillo“) to do a honey processing the next days. We are very thankful that Ana and Carlos are teaching and briefing us. Follow @proyectococuyo to see our #takeover. ☕️ 👌 🍒 #travelmacchiato #proyectococuyo #coffee #coffeetime #kaffee #kavhe #coffeelove #coffeerules #coffeetour #manmakescoffee #thetrendybarista #baristamagazine #coffeeshow #brew #coffeetravels #specialtycoffee #coffeemakesmetravel #coffeearoundtheworld #coffeeorigins #oncloudnine #pink #chiangmai #cloudnine #coffeelover #coffeelovers #streetart #streetstyle #murals #details
We are in Colombia 🇨🇴 now. Since we travel for coffee Colombia was one of our dream destinations and now we arrived. After some nights in Bogotá we will stay the next two weeks in a coffee plantation. Carlos and Ana run the coffee plantation which is inherited from his grandfather. He knows a lot about the old and traditional farming skills since the comes from a coffee family. In the same time Ana and Carlos are artist who lived in metropoles like Sao Paolo or Bogotá before which seems to be a perfect combination. . Both of them will teach us the following two weeks how to harvest and process the coffee cherries. We just started and are very curios! We will keep you updated with daily stories in a #takeover of their Instagram account @proyectococuyo 👌 . On this picture you see Carlos’ hand with the coffee beans in the different stages. In Colombia it is common that the coffee plants have cherries in different stages/colours. . Next to humans, leafcutter ants form the largest and most complex animal societies on Earth. This little animals are farmers too, they cultivate fungus by feeding them with pieces of leaves, grasses and flowers. A lot to learn from our little friends at proyecto cocuyo! #ants #leafcutter #biodiversity #natureforall ¤ ¤ ¤Junto a los humanos, las hormigas cortadoras de hojas forman las sociedades animales más grandes y complejas de la Tierra. In this abandoned building, a 'panela' sugarcane mill worked until the middle of the 20th century. In the twenties, the sugar plantations of Cundinamarca and the network of sugar mills competed with the production of Cauca Valley, nowadays the largest in the country. This ruins make a contrast with a biodiverse present of trees and coffee crops. While the walls of the old trapiche cracks, other men and other worlds speak to us in the distance.
